Galvanize Wisconsin

We are partnering with Swing Blue Alliance to help Galvanize Action connect with women voters ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.  Research has proven how powerful it is for a voter to receive postcards with a handwritten note, which is where you come in.

Meeting Voters at their Values

We don’t have to look much further back than the 2021 Governor’s race in Virginia to know just how powerful Critical Race Theory (CRT) is in dividing voters.  White women voters particularly are being bombarded with messages about CRT that are designed to trigger fear which has increased their anxiety, particularly among women with sons and those residing in the suburbs.

This meme was designed and tested to encourage moderate white women voters toward supporting schools having open and honest conversations about the ongoing effects of race and discrimination. By using a military figure as the messenger, we are appealing to the voters’ patriotism and respect for authority -key values of these Americans.  The message centers voters’ in-group care by focusing on their son, essentially flipping the script  that white mothers need to fear that their sons will be disadvantaged by conversations about race.  This meme makes the case that talking about challenging topics is an act of bravery that protects everyone.  And by using an image that looks directly at the view, we are tapping into the neuroscience techniques that increase our empathy and connection to the messenger.
