Why Virginia? The 2023 Virginia elections aren’t just about state leadership. As the only battleground state to hold its major election this year, the outcome will be an important indicator for the 2024 election.
What’s at stake? The Democrats’ paper-thin majority in the VA State senate is the only bulwark against right-wing madness. Virginia is the only state in the South where the GOP has not imposed a post-Roe ban on abortion. If Republicans gain control of all three branches of government, they will almost certainly pass a statewide abortion ban, support more book bans, increase barriers to voting, and weaken pollution controls.
We’re all in for VA State Senate Candidate Clint Jenkins. This Swing Blue phone bank is supporting Clint Jenkins, current house member, to win the Senate seat in District 17. This toss up district is one of the most competitive in the state and could be the tipping point district in the battle for control of the Senate as a whole. Our phone banks and other assistance are critical to his campaign.
