Project World Cup Spotlight Boston Event
July 8 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm EDT
We have discovered that the Moroccan fan gathering is going to be Wednesday night, 7/8 at 8 pm in Boston Common. NBC Boston will be there. Join Our Team! Volunteer with Project World Cup Spolight in Boston!
As the world turns its eyes to Boston for the FIFA World Cup, we have a massive opportunity to show them what this city stands for. We’re going to meet the global celebration with a powerful, positive message of our own: The World is Watching, and We Care About Our Immigrant Neighbors. On July 8th, Project World Cup Spotlight will be holding a fun, high-visibility action to support our immigrant communities and call for an end to ICE and the present administration’s inhumane policies.
We are adopting the brilliant giant soccer ball concept first developed by the team at our Atlanta protest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q63d2YSrVJk
Imagine a giant, eight-foot inflatable soccer ball covered in messages of hope and defiance:
- We Love Immigrants
- Kindness Is Always the Best Path
- Melt ICE Now
- Freedom from Fear
- No One is Illegal
- The logos for Project World Cup Spotlight, Visibility Brigade, 50501 and Global Exchange.
We’ll also have hundreds of smaller, 16″ inflatable balls to hand out to the crowds, spreading the message that “Soccer Unites, ICE Divides.” This is where you come in. To make this happen, we need a committed team of at least 30 volunteers (and more is always better!). You’ll help manage our giant ball, hand out the smaller ones, and engage with fans in a positive way that gets our urgent message seen by both the public and the media.
This will be a day of fun, community, and powerful action. Are you ready to be a part of it?
Please sign up on our link here to volunteer. More specific info will be sent to you the closer we get to the day.
Thank you for standing with us. Let’s show the world the true spirit of Boston!
In solidarity, The Project World Cup Spotlight Team
