Restoring the Promise: A Discussion about Immigration Policy and the Path Forward

February 10 @ 6:00 pm 7:30 pm EST

Join us for Restoring the Promise, a community-based discussion led by Antonio Massa Viana, Massachusetts immigration attorney and founder of Massa Viana Law. An immigrant himself, Antonio arrived in the U.S. at age 12 and later became the first known undocumented attorney admitted to the Massachusetts Bar. His personal journey through the immigration system fuels his dedication to advocacy grounded in empathy, justice, and a vision for a fairer future.

This nonpartisan program invites participants to reflect on the impact of current immigration policies, the ways immigration has shaped our nation, and the constitutional questions that affect both non-citizens and U.S. citizens alike. Grounded in shared ideals — fairness, accountability, and the belief that our nation’s strength rests on how we treat every person under its protection — Restoring the Promise creates space for meaningful dialogue and collective problem-solving.

Through real-life stories, legal insights, and historical analysis, Antonio will guide participants in exploring:

– What the Constitution guarantees in terms of rights and legal protections and how those guarantees are applied today

– Why our immigration system is ineffective and in need of reform

– What history tells us about immigration in America

– Common myths about immigration versus the reality

– How immigration abuses open the door to broader civil rights violations

– A vision for moving forward, balancing national interests, compassion, and the rule of law

This is not only an opportunity to listen and learn, but also a chance to explore solutions to today’s immigration challenges and to ask a vital question: What kind of future do we want to build together as a country?
