Summer Huddle: Standing With Our Immigrant Neighbor

Federal immigration policy keeps shifting, and the cruelty keeps escalating. It may not be in the news every day, but our immigrant neighbors and friends continue to face enormous challenges–in their communities and workplaces, financially, emotionally, legally.
In moments like this, “the people” can’t be bystanders — we’re called to stand up, speak out, and protect the dignity and rights of our neighbors and friends.
Join Concord Indivisible and First Parish Immigration Justice Task Force for our Summer Huddle.
We’re bringing together a panel of attorneys and advocates working on the front lines of immigrant rights to help us understand what’s really happening — and, just as importantly, what we can do about it. This isn’t just a discussion; it’s a call to action with concrete, specific steps for how each of us can help.
Moderator: Luis Marentes — Emeriti Faculty, Spanish and Portuguese Studies, UMass Amherst.

- Claudia Torres — Attorney, Justice at Work, with a background in workers’ rights and a deep commitment to advancing social justice and collective well-being
- Julia Schlozman — Senior Staff Attorney, JALSA (Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action), deeply involved in legislative and policy work with a focus on immigration.
