SUMMARY:Marshfield Diversity Rally
DESCRIPTION:Marshfield is always striving to be a more diverse community and welcoming to strangers. One way the town has done this is to issue proclamations recognizing communities in the town on specific days and months. Unfortunately\, for the first time in three years\, there was no proclamation issued to recognize Pride Month. \n\n\n\nThe reason there is no proclamation is that the chair of the select board had the Pride Proclamation line item removed from the agenda in an early June meeting. Thanks to the efforts of community members\, advocates\, and allies\, the Pride Proclamation line item has been added to the agenda for Monday’s Selectboard meeting. At the meeting\, the Pride Proclamation will be voted on by the full selectboard on the last day of Pride Month. Unfortunately\, there is no guarantee Proclamation will pass. \n\n\n\nThis is why on Monday\, June 30th\, we are having a rally at the town green to show the select board that Marshfield is a community that supports diversity and inclusion. Starting at 5:00\, we’ll meet at the town green on the corner of Moraine St. and Snow Rd. in Marshfield center. This is a family-friendly event\, so please bring your G-rated signs expressing support for the LGBTQ+ community and the passing of the Pride Proclamation. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

DESCRIPTION:the State of MA is closing multiple shelters starting on June 30th\, leaving many of the Haitian families there\, already at risk\, with nowhere to go. In response\, we have identified and interviewed families that are – all are in the U.S. legally\, have work authorization\, are primed for self-sufficiency\, and are desperately need help. And we have launched our Be the Movement. Welcome the Stranger campaign to engage grassroots networks of churches and activists across New England to help us spread the word with the goal of mobilizing groups of neighbors to come together and offer refuge and support to these families. \n\n\n\nRSVP
