DESCRIPTION:As you may know\, on July 31 the district court ordered that the termination of TPS for Honduras\, Nepal\, and Nicaragua may not take effect until at least November 18 (with the possibility of further extension). \n\n\n\nThe U.S. government is now appealing this decision. They are seeking an emergency order from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to allow TPS terminations to take effect as originally scheduled: \n\n\n\n\nNepal: August 5\n\n\n\nHonduras and Nicaragua: September 8\n\n\n\n\nThe appeals court will hold a hearing on Tuesday\, August 19\, 2025\, at 2:00 p.m. PT\, which will be livestreamed for public viewing. The Ninth Circuit could issue its decision as early as next week\, and we will share updates as soon as we have more information. \n\n\n\nFinally\, there are two ways you can take action to defend TPS: \n\n\n\n1. SUMMARY:Hands Across Riley: Human Chain for Peace\, & Standout Rally
DESCRIPTION:We will be gathering to join hands in solidarity against the multiple actions of the Trump administration\, and literally make a human chain. This will be followed by a moment of silence. It is inspired by the “Hands Across High” campaign in Colombus\, OH. \n\n\n\nMany of us come\, each with our own reasons. Some are opposed most by the cuts to Medicaid\, others by the push for deportations\, or the camps built to house detainees. Still others oppose the elimination of research or ALL of the myriad of other actions of the current regime. This event gives us all a chance to join together in solidarity\, and support each other\, no matter our motivation. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\nAt 6:00 pm we will have a Standout Rally\, so bring your signs (we’ll provide one if you don’t have one)\, and get ready to get honked at! At 7:00 pm the “HANDS ACROSS RILEY” begins. We welcome all of you to join us. \n\n\n\nThis a local Indivisible event! \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. You’ll leave with real tactics\, scripts\, and tools you can use right away.
