We will hear from: \n\n\n\n\nElisabeth Greenleaf\, Progress NC executive director;\n\n\n\nAleccia Sutton\, Community Voices organizer\, Progress NC.\n\n\n\nMayor Weyling J. White\, the first Black mayor of Ahoskie\, NC\, will also speak. Mayor White has participated in Progress’s storyteller training and is working to engage other storytellers in rural North Carolina.\n\n\n\n\nThey will describe their work in recruiting and training storytellers from across the state\, as well as building an in-state media caucus. DESCRIPTION:Weekly GAIN Standout – Northborough\, MA \n\n\n\nPlease join Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) each Wednesday from 5:30pm – 6:30pm in front of Northborough’s “Old Town Hall” at the intersection of Routes 20 and 135\, next to CVS. Meet our group as we hold our signs\, create community\, educate the public\, and create good trouble. This is a fun-filled event and a busy location with great visibility. \n\n\n\nWe are continuing this weekly standout even while it’s dark – because it’s a great spot. The streetlights and headlights keep our signs visible. Some bring colored lights or glow sticks to make it more fun. \n\n\n\nPlease bring a sign if you have one\, but that’s not a requirement. We often have extras\, and sometimes blanks to create your own. \n\n\n\nNote: If the forecast shows 32 degrees or lower or heavy rain for the standout time\, please consider the event canceled. \n\n\n\nPlease park in the free municipal parking lot on Blake Street\, next to the standout. Join us for our Team ENOUGH welcome session to learn more about the different ways you can engage. \n\n\n\nTeam ENOUGH is a youth-led program whose mission is to educate young voices about gun violence and mobilize them to take meaningful action against it. Supported by Brady United\, we harness the expertise and experience of today’s youth to advance our intersectional work across the country. \n\n\n\nLed by an Executive Council\, comprised of students just like us\, we believe that diversity is a strength\, and that only when everyone has a seat at the table can we build an effective movement to prevent all gun violence in all communities. \n\n\n\nFor us\, preventing gun violence not only requires regulating access to firearms but also addressing how systemic racism and environmental factors cause this form of bloodshed to run especially rampant in communities of color. This training is for all of us who want to stand in solidarity\, especially those prepared to organize\, respond\, and show up with commitment and care. Join us for Solidarity Mobilizations\, a powerful two-part training series hosted by National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) and Solidarity Organizing Initiative (SOI). We’ll break down the political moment we’re in\, the authoritarian playbook driving these attacks\, and share key concepts and tools to empower each of us to play the role we are called to in pushing back effectively and strategically. Each session will have live transcription and will be recorded. The recording will be sent out to everyone who registers within 48 hours after each session.
