This will be the committee’s third year hosting\, and we hope to beat last year’s record of 1\,000 coats. We are a small and mighty group that gains new activists each week. Our high visibility location is very impactful and fulfilling. Westborough Indivisible is comprised of pro-democracy Massachusetts citizens. We are a registered Indivisible group. Our mission is to build community and create the opportunity to organize collective actions to speak out and affect change as we face the growing risks of: \n\n\n\nRising authoritarianism\nErosion of civil liberties\nThe worsening economy\nFree and fair elections\n\n\n\n\nAttendee feedback: “It was great seeing new people joining our weekly protest today\, including all ages\, including kids. We are fighting authoritarianism with next to no help from the courts or Congress. So we need to keep appearing and protesting while our resistance movement coalesces. We hold the power! Icy conditions are a serious heads up. Use your judgement. \n\n\n\nWE ARE COLLECTING DONATIONS FOR THE WESTBOROUGH FOOD PANTRY AND WESTBOROUGH PET FOOD PANTRY. Please look for the donation boxes in the center of the rotary by the monument. \n\n\n\nIt’s best to park at Bay State Commons\, 600 Union Street\, and walk about 2 blocks to Main Street and the rotary. Please try to leave the parking spots closest to the Commons’ businesses open for business patrons. For people with mobility challenges\, there is limited parking on Main Street on a first come\, first served basis. Here are some important ground rules. We cannot disrupt traffic. Please stay out of the street\, and always use crosswalks. This is a peaceful protest. If someone becomes aggressive towards one of us\, we should all be ready to de-escalate the situation (don’t respond to the aggressor\, walk away\, find a volunteer with a reflecting vest or a Westborough Police Officer). Please look out for each other. We have been in contact with the Westborough Police\, and they fully support our right to PEACEFULLY protest. \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. DESCRIPTION:Standing out Home Depot Natick entrance sending a clear message to stop allowing ICE raids on their property and to boycott shopping there! \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nAll over the country\, ICE agents are targeting immigrants in and around Home Depot\, and these atrocities are happening on Home Depot’s watch\, on its properties\, with its silence. \n\n\n\nThe Home Depot has not publicly resisted or condemned these raids or demanded that the Administration stop assaulting and abducting people on and outside its properties. With its silence and inaction\, Home Depot has become ICE’s passive partner. \n\n\n\nIn order to show up for immigrant community members and defeat authoritarianism\, we must engage in the dual strategy of electing people who will stand up to Trump\, and engaging in noncooperation (also known as civil resistance). Movements with no civil resistance actions\, stopping democratic backsliding only happens 7.5% of the time. With a civil resistance added to the movement\, that percentage goes up to 51.7%! \n\n\n\nIn addition to this\, we need to run civil resistance campaigns that hit the power holders where it hurts! When we do symbolic actions like one day protests and vigils\, which are useful in their own way\, power holders can easily ignore them. When we engage in actions that cost money like a boycott\, cost elected leaders their seats\, or stop business as usual\, they are far more likely to respond. So we engage in noncooperation because we must impose real and tangible costs to powerholders’ bottom-lines! \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
