DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible event! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHANDS OFF BEVERLY has been holding weekly peaceful protests since February 17\, 2025. On Saturdays we are typically between 130 and 400 people. On the big national days of protest (NO KINGS) we are in the thousands. We have signs and cowbells to borrow\, bubbles and the best music by our tireless DJ Jim. We have a permit from the Beverly Police Department and marshals to assist people and answer questions. The best part of our protests are the people. You will have never met so many kind and wonderful folks who over the many months standing out in rain\, cold\, snow and heat have become a close knit family committed to not standing by in the face of the insanity and cruelty of the current administration. DESCRIPTION:Brookline Rally for Democracy \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery Saturday at 1:00 PM | Coolidge Corner \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin members of three Brookline pro-democracy groups — Indivisible Activist Evenings\, Brookline Pax\, and Speak Out\, Seniors! — for our weekly rally at Coolidge Corner. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe gather to raise our voices and our signs in defense of democracy\, justice\, and decency — and to stand united against the abuses of the Trump administration and the forces that threaten our rights and freedoms. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe stand for: \n\n\n\n• Immigrant rights\, human rights\, and racial justice \n\n\n\n• Free speech\, the Constitution\, and the rule of law \n\n\n\n• Access to health and healthcare for all \n\n\n\n• Protection of our planet and the future we leave to the next generation \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe choose empathy over cruelty\, peace over violence\, and hope over fear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur rallies are peaceful\, spirited\, and uplifting — a chance to connect\, recharge\, and stand up for what matters. Bring your friends\, your voice\, and your sign (or borrow one of ours!). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll are welcome!  The rally is multi-generational and family-friendly; those using walkers or other mobility devices may use them to sit to participate. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the event of inclement weather\, we’ll each use our best judgment about whether to attend. DESCRIPTION:Come phone bank with SURJ!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are now in a decisive phase of the fight against authoritarianism\, the threat is real and the stakes are high. And people are fighting back. Millions have protested\, and we’ve watched powerful organizing coming out of Minneapolis\, Chicago\, and other cities that have borne the brunt of ICE’s assaults on our communities. Mass anger exists\, but mass organization does not yet exist at the scale needed to win. Movements become real when they reach millions: organized\, trained\, and acting together. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome take action with SURJ! We’ll be calling voters about primary races working to elect progressive champions in key states and districts to ultimately take back BOTH the House and Senate this November. These races include: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRandy Villegas\, who is a 30-year old son of immigrants and activist for immigrant rights in his area. He is an elected school board trustee in Visalia\, CA and political science professor who is running to represent California’s 22nd congressional district\, representing Bakersfield and portions of the central valley.\n\n\n\nGraham Platner\, who is a Marine\, U.S. Army veteran\, and oyster farmer running to be the next Senator to represent Maine.\n\n\n\nWill Lawrence\, who is an organizer and coalition-builder with experience speaking truth to power and getting results at the local\, state and federal level running to represent Michigan Congressional District 7 in Lansing.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome as you are! We know this fight is on multiple fronts\, and this fall we have an opportunity to harness the energy of the streets and rising resentment towards November’s elections – to not only wrest power from MAGA\, but to put candidates in office who are willing to stand up to Trump and fight for working class people. BOTH the House AND Senate are in play for Democrats to take back control and this year we aim to put progressive working class champions in a position to WIN. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor the last six years\, SURJ’s phone banking program has grown to be one of the strongest in the country\, reaching millions of working class people with our vision of finding our shared interest in standing alongside people of color and rejecting white supremacy. This year is an opportunity to deliver strategic blows to the MAGA agenda and throw down a gauntlet to force the Democratic Party to reckon with true progressive\, working class fighters. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo do this\, we’re focusing on key House districts in California and New York between April and June in addition to a critical Senate race in Maine. In July and August we will shift focus to primaries for key House districts in Minnesota and Michigan. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese races will affect millions of working class people this year. Our work on Primary races this spring and summer will set us up to add more progressive champions to the halls of congress and take back power this November. We will continue to build power to stop MAGA\, by supporting unapologetically progressive working class champions.
