SUMMARY:Justice 4 All Thursdays
DESCRIPTION:Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \n\n\n\nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \n\n\n\nSchedule \n\n\n\n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the Email List\n\n\n\nRead past Substack articles\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime to Re-Stock\n\n\n\nComfort Cart Running Low on Food Staples \n\n\n\nNow that it is a 5-day/week operation\, the Comfort Cart can run low on food quickly. Please consider bringing a bag of food or donating cash using the Venmo QR below. \n\n\n\nYour generosity is always appreciated. Thank you! \n\n\n\n\n\nWeather \n\n\n\nAll attendees are ultimately responsible for making their own decisions about travel.  The organizers are going to use the following guidelines to modify or cancel events in advance.  A sudden change in conditions just before or during events\, such as a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning\, could happen and organizers will do their best to communicate any decisions appropriately. \n\n\n\n\n\nNo change to event:Normal to heavy RainWindy\, but no warningsLight snow on ground\, but not falling \n\n\n\nCancel:Burlington schools cancelledTemp/Wind Chill < 20FStorm advisory with snow or high wind predictedFreezing rain falling or predicted \n\n\n\n\n\nShorten event in advance\, limit to standout:Temp/Wind Chill < 30FTemp Ok\, but ground wetDeep snow in grassy area\, sidewalks clear \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat happens at this ICE office? \n\n\n\nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \n\n\n\nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \n\n\n\nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \n\n\n\nSigns \n\n\n\nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \n\n\n\nParking and other tips \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. \n\n\n\n\n\nBefore arriving\, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen\, hydration\, etc.). \n\n\n\nIf you would like to receive updates on Justice4All Thursdays and reminders of our events\, please add your email below to join our list. We’re excited to reinforce the work of our friends at Bearing Witness and to support our immigrant neighbors. We hope that you will join us. \n\n\n\nSee you in Burlington! \n\n\n\n~Justice4All Thursdays organizers and the Greater Assabet Indivisible Network

SUMMARY:Good Trouble Film Series – Democracy Under Siege
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free screening of the documentary film\, Democracy Under Siege\, followed by a panel discussion about election security and voting rights as we head toward the midterm elections. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOscar- and Emmy-nominated director Laura Nix traces the complex history and modern challenges of American democracy\, connecting executive overreach\, constitutional and judicial issues to their roots in U.S. history through commentary by subject matter experts and political analysts. Democracy Under Siege explores the erosion of multiracial democracy\, a circumstance which has been further underscored by the Supreme Court’s Calais decision and extreme gerrymandering\, since the film’s release. The film features Heather Cox Richardson\, Rep. Jamie Raskin\, Steven Levitsky\, Melissa Murray\, and Pulitzer winner Ann Telnaes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open at 5:30 pm. Screening begins at 5:50pm. Screening is in-person only\, with no live stream or recording. This event is free but donations are appreciated. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTrue North Action Alliance Boston is a dual chapter of Indivisible and Progressive Mass. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible and coalition partner events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Indivisible Maynard Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible Maynard Area event! \n\n\n\nWe meet the 2nd Thursday each month at the Maynard Firehouse to get informed and to take action. We alternate between trainings\, speakers\, and more traditional huddles but try to have some kind of action involved at each. Past actions included prepping for No Kings and other standouts\, folding zines about reporting ICE\, putting together whistle kits\, signing petitions and postcard writing. \n\n\n\nAt our Sept. 10 monthly meeting we will be joined by Jonathan Cohn\, the policy director of Progressive Mass. Jonathan will share insights about the upcoming midterm election and the ballot questions. We are fortunate to have Jonathan speak with us and we can use his knowledge to educate others. Please come and bring a friend. \n\n\n\n\nSign up for updates\n\n\n\n\nWe collect canned and dry packaged food for Open Table at our meetings. Please bring something to donate if you are able. \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:No Kings: Vote Early Kick Off
DESCRIPTION:Join our September 10 No Kings: Vote Early Kickoff Call to learn more about the vision\, urgency\, and strategy behind the No Kings coalition’s early vote activation and election protection campaign and how you can get involved. \n\n\n\nWe know our right to vote wasn’t given. It was won by people who marched\, sat in\, stood in line for hours in the rain\, and risked everything so we could stand here today. Every generation before us fought for it. And now it’s ours to carry forward. \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values\, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally permitted\, should not be brought to events. All events should be held in public spaces or on public property. \n\n\n\n\nGet Zoom Link\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nNo Kings: Vote Early events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters.
