DESCRIPTION:One of the goals in creating MAMA Discord server was to help bridge the generational gap we are seeing with many activist groups right now\, particularly within Indivisible chapters. Toward that end\, we started a Discord Workshop\, in collaboration with Indivisible Acton Area chapter. \n\n\n\n\nGet Link!\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is right after the weekly zoom check-in with the national organizers for Indivisible\, since it is particularly geared toward Indivisible members in MA chapters. Though of course everyone is welcome to join. \n\n\n\nWe’re going to spend the first 30min-1hr helping people to install Discord on their devices and showing them the ropes. How the servers work\, what kind of tools are available\, how to make posts and share things\, how to mute channels and manage the chatter\, and so on. We will also talk about other apps and tools people commonly use such as Signal and Slack. The next hour of the workshop will be optional and open-ended for asking questions and exploring the MAMA server.

Long considered a symbol of peace and hope\, we plan to come together and deliver them to the nearest ice detention center on President’s Day\, February 16\, 2026. \n\n\n\nPerhaps we’ll gather them in a garland to hang on a fence or from a tree. It won’t matter if there is one bird or an entire flock—the symbolism is the same: In these times of chaos and lack of empathy\, where hatred is made acceptable\, we will stand together for peace. We will stand for the love of one another. We will recognize the inherent worth of all of us\, no matter from where we come. DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, January 20\, 2026 at 9:00 AM\, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) and Senator Edward J. Markey (D-MA)\, and other Members of the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation will join TPS holders\, advocates\, local community and business leaders\, and others\, for a field hearing on the devastating human and economic impacts of the Trump administration’s cruel and harmful decision to terminate Temporary Protected Status for Haiti. The hearing comes ahead of February 3\, 2026\, which is the date the program is set to expire. \n\n\n\nTestimony from the hearing will help inform the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation and their legislative and advocacy efforts in Congress. \n\n\n\nThe hearing will be held at Jubilee Christian Church (1500 Blue Hill Ave\, Mattapan\, MA 02126. The Massachusetts TPS Committee Co-Coordinators Doris Landaverde and Jose Urias will be participating\, along with other members of the immigrant rights community\, Unions and business leaders. \n\n\n\nThe goal of the hearing is to hear directly from those impacted by termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS)\, with a special focus on Haitian TPS holders\, set to expire in February 2026. The field hearing will feature oral testimony from witnesses and offer the opportunity to submit written testimony to interested stakeholders. Democrats won big in November’s off-year elections; closed the gap in a Tennessee Republican stronghold; and stopped Trump’s gerrymandering plan in Indiana. As Indivisible co-founder Leah Greenberg wrote: “This is what it looks like when a would-be dictator tries to bully his way into power—and fails. It’s a sign that rule-by-fear is breaking down. It’s a flashing warning light that the wheels are coming off the fascism bus.” \n\n\n\nNow\, as we turn the page to 2026\, we need to slash the tires on said bus. In other words\, we need to deliver massive Democratic wins in the November midterm elections. Why? In this 90-minute session inspired by Indivisible’s “Truth Brigade\,” attendees will learn positive approaches to political conversation at a time of unprecedented polarization and disinformation. \n\n\n\nAttendees will understand how to recognize disinformation\, when to engage (and when NOT to)\, and what they can do to change the dynamic through truthful\, firm\, and friendly conversation tactics. Attendees may role-play de-escalation\, practice finding common ground\, focus on fact sharing\, experiment with “stop and think” questions\, and try drafting social media comments. Staying composed during rapid response moments is easier said than done\, and this hands-on session will prepare attendees to communicate effectively and positively. \n\n\n\nAbout the presenter: Vanessa is a Cornell-trained family mediator who has logged many thousands of hours facilitating interpersonal conflict.
