DESCRIPTION:Speechifying\, Shakespeare\, & Sea Shanties! Every week\, we stand on Burlington Mall Road with signs\, costumes and flags. We come out to show support for our immigrant neighbors\, express our shame at ICE\, and build community in opposition to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government. We are there to tell the world that there is a ICE CONCENTRATION CAMP just two blocks away.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are not there merely to make propaganda against ICE. We are there to make propaganda against fear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery car that honks in support as they pass is in a small way joining the Resistance. Many who honk may be expressing themselves against ICE terror for the first time. This breaks the ice\, and makes it easier for them to take the next steps. It helps them help others to overcome their fear. We are there to cause a ripple effect. To fight against the terror visited on immigrants\, we need to fight against our own internalized terror. We have nothing to fear. We are America\, fighting back.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you REGISTER by FRIDAY\, you will be notified of cancellations by email. DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible Maynard Area event! \n\n\n\nWe meet the 2nd Thursday each month at the Maynard Firehouse to get informed and to take action. We alternate between trainings\, speakers\, and more traditional huddles but try to have some kind of action involved at each. Past actions included prepping for No Kings and other standouts\, folding zines about reporting ICE\, putting together whistle kits\, signing petitions and postcard writing. \n\n\n\nFor our October meeting we are focused on the midterms. Christine Brown of Indivisible Acton Area and TurnPurple2Blue.org will give a talk called “What will it take to WIN the midterms -and how can YOU make a difference?” She will walk us through some key races and final actions we can take to bring in a blue wave. We will also share some important information around election protection and will do some prep for our Oct 17 No Kings: Vote Early event at Haynes Court. \n\n\n\nWe collect canned and dry packaged food for Open Table at our meetings. We come out to show support for our immigrant neighbors\, express our shame at ICE\, and build community in opposition to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government. We are there to tell the world that there is a ICE CONCENTRATION CAMP just two blocks away.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are not there merely to make propaganda against ICE. We are there to make propaganda against fear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery car that honks in support as they pass is in a small way joining the Resistance. Many who honk may be expressing themselves against ICE terror for the first time. This breaks the ice\, and makes it easier for them to take the next steps. It helps them help others to overcome their fear. We are there to cause a ripple effect. To fight against the terror visited on immigrants\, we need to fight against our own internalized terror. DESCRIPTION:Do you wonder what resistance actions are the most effective in standing up to the Trump administration and the Republicans in Congress? \n\n\n\nThis interactive two-hour workshop will present theory and case studies that will help us explore the most effective actions and tactics that can be used to create social change – including addressing the current threat to democracy in the U.S.  \n\n\n\nSpecifically\, the workshop will focus on 1) identifying and putting pressure on primary and secondary targets\, 2) learning about the importance of communicating with unlikely allies and mobilizing passive supporters\, and 3) using creative tactics that draw on cultural resonances of the target audience(s). \n\n\n\n\nRegister for Workshop\n\n\n\n\nInterspersed with learning and studying campaign case studies will be small group discussions and exercises designed to help participants apply concepts to goals and projects they care most about. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\nBetsy Leondar-Wright\, PhD\, is a long-time economic justice activist whose graduate studies focused on what makes social movements succeed.  She was active in the campaign to pressure Citizens Bank to stop financing ICE private prison contractors.  She is the author of several books\, most recently Is It Racist? SUMMARY:NO KINGS Greeter Team Zoom
DESCRIPTION:NO KINGS: Vote Early is meant to encourage citizens to vote and to do so early\, AND to bring more people into the movement to increase our “Power in Numbers.” The first step is to collect contact information from participants\, and the second step is to introduce them to the movement in a relaxed way. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur NO KINGS Greeters help with BOTH. Each Greeter will have an attendance list\, notebook and stickers. They will (1) check off anyone who is on their list so they are credited with attending. They will (2) collect contact information from anyone not on their list. They will (3) give the person a flyer inviting them to a Meet & Greet exclusively for NO KINGS attendees. Finally\, they will (4) give each a sticker that will help a Greeter determine whether someone has already been greeted. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGreeters are KEY to growing our movement! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will go over details\, perhaps do a bit of role-playing\, and do further planning at a half-hour Zoom meeting on Monday 10/12 at 7 PM. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will receive a Zoom invitation in a reminder email and text a couple of days before the Zoom. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Meeting Link\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. SUMMARY:ICE in our Backyard & Rolling Billboard Bus Tours
DESCRIPTION:Do you wonder how ICE transports detainees from New England to ICE prisons in other states?  Do you know where they fly from\, which airlines are involved\, and which corporations support the mass deportation infrastructure?  Come find out what is happening in your backyard\, who is enabling it and what you can do about it.  \n\n\n\nThis action will be a combined tour and protest.  After an informational pre-tour talk\, we will take MBTA bus #76 from Lexington to Hanscom Field and back.  On the bus\, we will hold signs in the windows calling out Signature Aviation for its role in mass deportations.  At Hanscom Field\, we will stay on the bus\, and observe the airfield and Signature Aviation’s significant presence.    \n\n\n\n\nOct 2\n\n\n\nOct 9\n\n\n\nOct 13\n\n\n\n\nThe pre-tour talk will be illustrated by photos taken by ICE flight trackers.  All participants will be encouraged to join a public pressure campaign to stop Signature Aviation from servicing ICE flights\, as well as other actions you can take to protect your neighbors in New England.  \n\n\n\nParking  \n\n\n\nParking is available in the town parking lots\, which use the paybyphone parking app (https://www.paybyphone.com)\, and in parking lots behind stores on Mass Avenue.  \n\n\n\nBring  \n\n\n\nBus Fare:  $1.70 ($.85 for seniors) or Charlie card  \n\n\n\nSigns:    \n\n\n\n\nSignature Aviation Supports Human Trafficking \n\n\n\nSignature Aviation Supports Mass Deportations \n\n\n\nSignature Aviation: Stop Servicing ICE Flights \n\n\n\nSignature Aviation: Stop Fueling ICE Aircraft \n\n\n\nSignature Aviation: Stop All Maintenance of ICE Aircraft \n\n\n\nSignature Aviation: Stop Enabling Torture \n\n\n\n\nFor more information\, contact info@signatureaviation.org
