DESCRIPTION:Many people and communities aspire to a zero-waste goal. Yet\, in recent years\, news reports have left many folks cynical about what actually happens to our trash. Are there facilities for recycling here in New England? Or does it get sent overseas or even incinerated? Is composting making a difference for food waste? What about commercial pick-up from Acton’s apartment buildings and condo associations? Have Acton residents succeeded in reducing their portion of trash in our municipal solid refuse? Has the plastic bag ban been a success? \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\nJoin Lauren West\, Environmental Analyst for the Acton Sustainability Office\, as she outlines what happens to waste here in Acton and as she looks regional/national trends. \n\n\n\nThis is also an event to celebrate the new outdoor classroom at the Sustainability Office’s “Red House\,” 468 Main Street\, next to Town Hall. During the immersive course experience\, students analyze racism and the several intersectional systems of oppression and marginalization that shape health with the long history\, rich culture\, and urban landscape of Boston as a backdrop. \n\n\n\nThis hybrid event will highlight the barriers to health and justice for immigrant communities in the Greater Boston area and across Massachusetts. She will share about the outreach and programming that La Colaborativa is doing to provide vital resources and support through transformative programs and initiatives\, empowering Latinx individuals and families.  \n\n\n\nElizabeth Sweet\, Executive Director of MIRA Coalition\, will discuss systemic and structural barriers to health and justice that immigrant and refugee populations face. A coalition of over 140 organisations\, Sweet will highlight the work MIRA Coalition does toward the social\, civic and economic integration of immigrants and refugees. She will also share about the advocacy the organization does for progressive policies at the state\, local and national levels. \n\n\n\nThe MPH program in the Department of Public Health of Simmons University advances a vision where all individuals and communities are assured fair and equitable opportunity to achieve optimal health and well-being\, ensuring inclusivity across identities\, locations and circumstances. DESCRIPTION:This is a local Indivisible event\, and part of Greater Assabet Indivisible Network’s (GAIN’s) monthly speaker series. Come hear about The Psychology of the Trump Cult with Rev. Steve Wilson on Saturday\, September 6th from 4-6pm. In this lecture and discussion\, we will explore the mind(s) of those who came to support this Administration\, including the psychology of the human brain\, strategize ways\, and ideally provide simple tools that might be helpful in undoing the conspiratorial thinking that led to this sad place in our nation’s history. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nOur speaker has been a Unitarian Universalist Minister for 25 years\, and has worked as both a paid employee and unpaid volunteer in various progressive campaigns. Steve was the MC for the No Kings Worcester Rally on June 14th\, has worked as a popular educator regarding economic inequality\, raised money for environmental groups\, and worked with people with cognitive and mental health issues. He holds a Master’s degree from Boston University’s School of Theology\, focused on social justice. \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. DESCRIPTION:Join Harvard students in their push to show Harvard University that the Harvard community\, and greater Boston community\, stand united. At the “United We Stand” event\, speakers will push Harvard to stand strong and not settle. Our stance is simple: folding now will only serve to embolden an increasingly authoritarian federal government and set a dangerous precedent for other universities\, civil society\, and our country. \n\n\n\nThis will not just be a rally – this will also serve as community action. Harvard students will have the chance to make their voices heard by submitting notes to SFF’s comment box.  Each student will have the opportunity to write a note to President Garber about why they believe Harvard should not make a deal with the Trump administration. \n\n\n\n\nUpdates and mailing list\n\n\n\n\nThese notes will be delivered to President Garber’s office to show that the Harvard community stands united against the Trump administration’s anti-American attacks on our university. \n\n\n\nPaper\, writing utensils\, and envelopes will be available at the event for students to contribute to. Students are also welcome to bring pre-written notes.
