DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free screening of the documentary film\, Democracy Under Siege\, followed by a panel discussion about election security and voting rights as we head toward the midterm elections. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOscar- and Emmy-nominated director Laura Nix traces the complex history and modern challenges of American democracy\, connecting executive overreach\, constitutional and judicial issues to their roots in U.S. history through commentary by subject matter experts and political analysts. Democracy Under Siege explores the erosion of multiracial democracy\, a circumstance which has been further underscored by the Supreme Court’s Calais decision and extreme gerrymandering\, since the film’s release. The film features Heather Cox Richardson\, Rep. Jamie Raskin\, Steven Levitsky\, Melissa Murray\, and Pulitzer winner Ann Telnaes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open at 5:30 pm. Screening begins at 5:50pm. Screening is in-person only\, with no live stream or recording. DESCRIPTION:Speechifying\, Shakespeare\, & Sea Shanties! Every week\, we stand on Burlington Mall Road with signs\, costumes and flags. We come out to show support for our immigrant neighbors\, express our shame at ICE\, and build community in opposition to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government. We are there to tell the world that there is a ICE CONCENTRATION CAMP just two blocks away.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are not there merely to make propaganda against ICE. We are there to make propaganda against fear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery car that honks in support as they pass is in a small way joining the Resistance. Many who honk may be expressing themselves against ICE terror for the first time. This breaks the ice\, and makes it easier for them to take the next steps. It helps them help others to overcome their fear. We are there to cause a ripple effect. To fight against the terror visited on immigrants\, we need to fight against our own internalized terror. We have nothing to fear. We are America\, fighting back.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you REGISTER by FRIDAY\, you will be notified of cancellations by email. All events held rain or shine & only cancel for large storms or high winds. We recommend dressing comfortably for the weather and bring a water bottle. This march is an opportunity to come together in celebration and solidarity\, stand visibly with Worcester’s LGBTQ+ community\, and reaffirm that our LGBTQ+ friends\, family\, and neighbors will not be erased. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe need both marchers and volunteer marshals! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🏳️‍🌈 MARCH WITH US: Join the Worcester Indivisible contingent and walk with us through Worcester. SUMMARY:Peace Flag Workshop: Wave Your Freak Flag!
DESCRIPTION:A peace flag\, or bunting is a decorative string of small flags\, pennants\, or fabric pieces featuring peace symbols\, messages of harmony\, or anti-war designs. Our Peace Bunting Project\, which began 2 months ago\, will continue into the Fall. The microphone carried that too create something unique and creative! No experiences necessary\, and we will supply magic markers watercolors etc. You’re welcome to bring anything that you like. Each part of the flag or bunting will be approximately 9 by 10 in. In this time of great division\, think about what peace means to you. Can mean something different for all of us\, yet\, we\, as human beings\, find a commonality in our ideals of peace. What would you draw? We’re not looking for great artist here\, just anyone who wants to contribute. You can even make one to take home with you. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a no cost Workshop. Donations accepted but absolutely not mandatory. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will be reaching out to area community groups to see if there is interest in adding to the bunting. SUMMARY:Standout to SUPPORT IMMIGRANTS - No Fear Street Theater
DESCRIPTION:Speechifying\, Shakespeare\, & Sea Shanties! Every week\, we stand on Burlington Mall Road with signs\, costumes and flags. We come out to show support for our immigrant neighbors\, express our shame at ICE\, and build community in opposition to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government. We are there to tell the world that there is a ICE CONCENTRATION CAMP just two blocks away.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are not there merely to make propaganda against ICE. We are there to make propaganda against fear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery car that honks in support as they pass is in a small way joining the Resistance. Many who honk may be expressing themselves against ICE terror for the first time. This breaks the ice\, and makes it easier for them to take the next steps. It helps them help others to overcome their fear. We are there to cause a ripple effect. To fight against the terror visited on immigrants\, we need to fight against our own internalized terror. We have nothing to fear. We are America\, fighting back.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you REGISTER by FRIDAY\, you will be notified of cancellations by email. All events held rain or shine & only cancel for large storms or high winds. We recommend dressing comfortably for the weather and bring a water bottle. The sidewalk area has a paved area and also a grassy area with trees in the background. There is some PARKING about 2 blocks away. Please NOTE: parking that is closer to the standout is private parking & reserved for staff and customers of the businesses and shopping center. ( Some cars have been towed from the private parking\, so we recommend that people chose other options.) Parking info. for the recommended parking areas will be sent to registrants.
