SUMMARY:Standout to SUPPORT IMMIGRANTS - No Fear Street Theater
DESCRIPTION:Speechifying\, Shakespeare\, & Sea Shanties! Every week\, we stand on Burlington Mall Road with signs\, costumes and flags. We come out to show support for our immigrant neighbors\, express our shame at ICE\, and build community in opposition to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government. We are there to tell the world that there is a ICE CONCENTRATION CAMP just two blocks away.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are not there merely to make propaganda against ICE. We are there to make propaganda against fear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery car that honks in support as they pass is in a small way joining the Resistance. Many who honk may be expressing themselves against ICE terror for the first time. This breaks the ice\, and makes it easier for them to take the next steps. It helps them help others to overcome their fear. We are there to cause a ripple effect. To fight against the terror visited on immigrants\, we need to fight against our own internalized terror. We have nothing to fear. We are America\, fighting back. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you REGISTER by FRIDAY\, you will be notified of cancellations by email. All events held rain or shine & only cancel for large storms or high winds. We recommend dressing comfortably for the weather and bring a water bottle. Bring your sign in support of Immigrants or you are most welcome to use one of the ones we have on hand.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a creative\, participatory protest. If you support immigrants and their constitutional rights\, join us! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.nofearstreettheater.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61584725253124\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPARKING\, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION & other INFO: This is an outdoor event held at our standout area at the CORNER of MALL ROAD & DISTRICT AVE. SUMMARY:WBUR Event - Author Talk | No Prophets: Rep. Jared Huffman on the Dangers of Christian Nationalism
DESCRIPTION:The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion\, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” The separation of church and state has long been considered part of the foundation of American democracy. Rep. Jared Huffman of California’s 2nd congressional district\, argues in a newly penned book\, “No Prophets: The Fight to Save Democracy from Christian Nationalism\,” that this bedrock principle and democracy itself is under threat by Christian nationalism. With 250th anniversary celebrations underway and President Donald Trump’s emphasis on a Christian founding narrative\, “No Prophets” lands during a particularly prescient time for Christian nationalists trying to advance their agenda across the U.S. government. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHuffman will join environmental activist and author Bill McKibben to discuss the book. Copies will be available to purchase from our bookstore partner Brookline Booksmith and Huffman will sign following the conversation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGet Tickets at WBUR Website\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible and coalition partner events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Peace Flag Workshop: Wave Your Freak Flag!
DESCRIPTION:A peace flag\, or bunting is a decorative string of small flags\, pennants\, or fabric pieces featuring peace symbols\, messages of harmony\, or anti-war designs. Our Peace Bunting Project\, which began 2 months ago\, will continue into the Fall. The microphone carried that too create something unique and creative! No experiences necessary\, and we will supply magic markers watercolors etc. You’re welcome to bring anything that you like. Each part of the flag or bunting will be approximately 9 by 10 in. In this time of great division\, think about what peace means to you. Can mean something different for all of us\, yet\, we\, as human beings\, find a commonality in our ideals of peace.
SUMMARY:Indivisible Easthampton Action Gathering
DESCRIPTION:It’s been a year since Indivisible Easthampton was started! We’re excited about what we’ve accomplished together – contacting our legislators about important issues\, protesting the ICE facility in Burlington and at Home Depot in Hadley\, bringing attention to Citizens Bank through the DE-ICE campaign\, sending postcards to voters about elections in key states\, supporting veterans and federal workers\, and bringing the community together to protest unjust policies and actions by the current regime. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe know that we’re facing even more challenges as we get closer to the mid-term elections. We want to be ready as best we can. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSome of you took the time to complete our recent survey\, and to share your ideas and concerns. Thank you! A core group of our members met recently to review and discuss the results\, and to develop a focus for the year based on YOUR input. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLet’s meet to celebrate what we’ve done and to move forward with our focus for the coming year. We’ll break out into groups to learn\, brainstorm\, and plan for action. Together\, we’ll appreciate each other\, our impact\, and the opportunities we face\, with light refreshments\, connection\, and community. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
