SUMMARY:Citizen Bank Protests
DESCRIPTION:Citizens Bank is financing ICE detention companies. \n\n\n\nCitizens Bank talks a lot about valuing diversity and building strong communities. What they don’t talk about: they’re helping for-profit prison companies get the cash they need to lock more people away in ICE detention. \n\n\n\nYou’ve heard the stories that come out of the facilities run by CoreCivic and The GEO Group. 911 dispatchers flooded with calls. Severe medical neglect. Children locked up for months on end. But even as the heartbreaking stories pour out of ICE detention centers\, Citizens Bank keeps pouring money into them.  \n\n\n\n\nDe-Ice Citizen’s Bank\n\n\n\nWho are Geo Group and Core Civic?\n\n\n\n\n\nSend a Letter to Citizen’s Bank\n\n\n\n\nCitizens Bank has dodged accountability for their important role in supporting inhumane ICE detention. Until now. \n\n\n\n\nActon | 10:30 AM-12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nArlington |  11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nBoston (Jamaica Plain) | 11:00- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nBrockton |  11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nBrookline |  11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nBurlington | 12 Noon – 1:00 PM\n\n\n\n\n\nCambridge Central  Square | 10:30 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nCambridge Harvard Square | 11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nConcord | 11::00 AM- 1:00 PM\n\n\n\n\n\nFoxborough | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nHolyoke | 11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nLexington | 11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nMedfield | 10:30 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nMedford | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nNorthampton | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon \n\n\n\n\n\nSommerville (Davis Square) | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nSpringfield | 11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nStow | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon

Stand with us and take action this weekend to demand an end to the occupation of Greenland\, Ukraine and our cities. \n\n\n\nWe’re focusing on corporate targets – companies set to benefit most from the occupation of ICE or Greenland. \n\n\n\nWe stand united demanding an end to the Greenland occupation and the removal of reckless untrained ICE agents from our communities. And we’re taking our fight to the companies that are backing this administration and benefiting most. \n\n\n\nTogether we will hit these companies in their pocketbooks\, force the administration to end the occupation of Greenland our cities and spread the word to our neighbors that we deserve better. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nEvery dollar spent in wars overseas or at home is a dollar we paid for with our taxes – a dollar that could and should go to helping our communities thrive. But not while our government works for billionaires and not for us. \n\n\n\nJoin us\, stand strong and speak up. \n\n\n\nPlease note: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. Cuts to indirect costs at universities and research institutions further tear into resources for science education and research. Together with the cancelation of grant review panels and delays in payment of previously funded grants\, the administration’s actions place the entire scientific enterprise at risk. \n\n\n\nScience\, more than any other endeavor\, has been the engine of America’s success since WWII. Other nations envy our research community and send their best and brightest to train in our universities. It is important that we convey the value of our work in a way that is likewise clear to our own elected leaders as well as to voters and taxpayers. \n\n\n\n\nRegister for More Information\n\n\n\n\nAt this time of existential threat to the survival of science as we know it in the US\, it is time to stand up. Please pass this message to your colleagues\, friends\, and family\, and post on social media. If they are not in Massachusetts\, they can look up their closest gathering site at https://standupforscience2025.org. The fight for science and education is everyone’s fight for a better future.
