SUMMARY:Standout for Democracy | Protest in Methuen
DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible event! Our standout is comprised of a group of seniors who decided to do more than watch the news\, become upset\, anxious\, and feel powerless about what is happening in and to our country. We began a peaceful protest action to register our displeasure! We wanted to demonstrate in a way that empowered us and allowed us to take back some control and voice our concerns. Our motto is “WE MARCHED THEN\, WE MARCH NOW.” Since we range in age from the 70s to 90s\, we try to standout on Fridays from 1pm to 2pm. We standout weather permitting so we would not standout in the rain or snow. We are looking forward to warmer weather. We are glad to be a part of Greater Methuen Indivisible. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. Please park along Old Bedford Road or Hanscom Drive without impeding traffic or blocking bike lanes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDe-ICE Hanscom is a coalition organizing peaceful standouts with the goal of eliminating ICE transport flights from Hanscom Field. ICE is using these flights to swiftly move immigrants out of New England in order to hinder effective legal representation.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCoalition groups include Boston Workers Circle\, Concord Indivisible\, Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN)\, Indivisible Acton Area\, Jewish Alliance for Law & Social Action (JALSA)\, Lexington Alarm\, and Maynard Indivisible. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSign up to get information and updates about our weekly standouts. DESCRIPTION:The next major national action isn’t another protest – it’s flexing our collective economic and non-cooperation muscle. Earlier this year\, Minnesota residents organized a Day of Truth and Action\, where teachers\, faith leaders\, workers\, students\, and business leaders refused work\, school\, and shopping on a single Friday in January to send a powerful message of resistance to the actions of the Trump administration and its corporate enablers. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP and and get updates\n\n\n\n\nHere in MA\, actions are being organized by unions and immigrant groups. The focus will be on building local power\, protecting our neighbors\, strengthening our capacity for noncooperation\, and defending our elections from sabotage. There are already events being planned for Boston\, including a rally on the Common at 4:30 PM. As more Boston actions are finalized\, they will be posted HERE.

DESCRIPTION:On May 1\, 2026\, workers\, students\, and families rally\, and take action across the country to demand a nation that puts workers over billionaires\, encouraging refusal to business as usual through No School. No Work. No Shopping. \n\n\n\nHere in Salem we will participate twice! \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nOn Friday\, May 1st\, at 6:00 pm\, we will have a Standout Rally in our usual location at Riley Plaza\, followed by a special Candlelight Service in honor of those who have worked for workers’ rights and continue to do so. We will have a special nod towards the workers of the immigrant population now under attack\, and light candles to work towards No ICE\, no endless wars\, promoting rent control\, fair elections and putting the needs of working families first\, \n\n\n\nOn Saturday May 2nd we will have a Standout Rally for MayDay\, with speakers and music\, and an emphasis on Mayday and all that goes with it.
