We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \n\n\n\nSigns \n\n\n\nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \n\n\n\nParking and other tips \n\n\n\nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. DESCRIPTION:Our current presidential administration seems intent on erasing critical aspects of American history\, both historic injustice\, and the struggles for freedom and democracy that are parts of our past. Led by community member and friend of the store Bob Van Meter\, the Resistance Book Club will read works that tell important parts of that history.   \n\n\n\nThe book club will meet on the third Friday of the month at 10:30 AM here at the store. The first meeting will be on Friday\, February 20th\, and the book pick will be The Second Founding by Eric Foner. It’s a concise history of the adoption of the 13th\, 14th\, and 15th Amendments\, which Foner argues should be seen as a second founding of the nation.

Our standout is comprised of a group of seniors who decided to do more than watch the news\, become upset\, anxious\, and feel powerless about what is happening in and to our country. We began a peaceful protest action to register our displeasure! We wanted to demonstrate in a way that empowered us and allowed us to take back some control and voice our concerns. Our motto is “WE MARCHED THEN\, WE MARCH NOW.” Since we range in age from the 70s to 90s\, we try to standout on Fridays from 1pm to 2pm. We standout weather permitting so we would not standout in the rain or snow. We are looking forward to warmer weather. Note that no one has been towed since Jared and Laurie started protesting in April 2025. In order to be legally towned\, Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 266\, Section 120D specifies that in order for towing to occur you need to be warned by a sign or a person that parking is restricted. In addition\, the owner of the property must get permission from the chief of police or designee and provide certain information.

DESCRIPTION:The third No Kings protest is scheduled for March 28. Events are being planned throughout the U.S. and in many foreign countries to demand that Trump and the Republican-led Congress stop their unconstitutional power grab and the cruel destruction of our federal government. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo publicize the No Kings protests\, we plan to hold signs from 4:30 to 5:30 pm on three dates in March at high visibility locations in Arlington. Signs will be provided. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe signs are designed after the World War 2 era poem which begins “First they came for the Communists\, and I did not speak out….”  We will replace “Communists” with “immigrants”\, etc. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are looking for people who are available to pick up a sign by 4:15 and hold it at a designated location for the full hour\, 4:30-5:30 pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease RSVP for 1\, 2 or all 3 dates. The location for each standout and other important details will be sent closer to the date. You will be notified if the standout needs to be rescheduled or cancelled due to bad weather. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
