SUMMARY:Burma Shave Standouts - Arlington
DESCRIPTION:The third No Kings protest is scheduled for March 28. Events are being planned throughout the U.S. and in many foreign countries to demand that Trump and the Republican-led Congress stop their unconstitutional power grab and the cruel destruction of our federal government. \n\n\n\nTo publicize the No Kings protests\, we plan to hold signs from 4:30 to 5:30 pm on three dates in March at high visibility locations in Arlington. Signs will be provided. \n\n\n\nThe signs are designed after the World War 2 era poem which begins “First they came for the Communists\, and I did not speak out….”  We will replace “Communists” with “immigrants”\, etc. \n\n\n\nWe are looking for people who are available to pick up a sign by 4:15 and hold it at a designated location for the full hour\, 4:30-5:30 pm. \n\n\n\nPlease RSVP for 1\, 2 or all 3 dates. The location for each standout and other important details will be sent closer to the date. You will be notified if the standout needs to be rescheduled or cancelled due to bad weather.

SUMMARY:Can -- And Will -- the Judiciary Save Us?
DESCRIPTION:The role of the Judiciary is to uphold the Constitution and serve as a check on the other branches of government. But under the Trump Administration\, the Supreme Court has been compromised; the Department of Justice has been weaponized; and the Constitution has been undermined. \n\n\n\nSo who can we count on to resist Trump’s unconstitutional agenda? The answer in the first year of the Trump regime has been a series of very brave and principled federal judges. They have blocked some illegal deportations; mandated the continuation of SNAP benefits; and halted an executive order restricting birthright citizenship to name a few lines of resistance. Moreover\, they have done so despite being accused of being liberal activists or out of touch with everyday Americans. And their actions have made them the targets of intimidation and subjected to death threats by MAGA extremists. \n\n\n\nThe question now is can the Judiciary hold the line on Trump’s lawlessness during the remainder of his presidency? And\, if they don’t\, what does that mean for the Constitution? Join us for a panel discussion on the role of the Judiciary in the Trump era. We’ll look at the cases where federal judges have successfully resisted Trump’s lawlessness–and where they did not. We’ll examine how the Supreme Court has been compromised and discuss possible solutions. Most importantly\, we will discuss how much damage has already been done to the rule of law—and how we as activists can help restore our Constitution and ensure its enforcement. \n\n\n\nFeel free to submit questions along with your on-line registration or just bring your questions to the event itself. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Exact Address

SUMMARY:Postcard Party
DESCRIPTION:Send hand-written postcards to voters in states that will play a key role in taking back Congress and in electing leaders who will fight back against the current authoritarian regime. Postcards educate voters\, urge them to register to vote\, and urge them to vote for specific candidates in special elections\, primaries\, and the November 2026 mid-term elections. Hand-written postcards have been proven in multiple studies to boost turnout enough to swing elections. Each packet of 15 postcards has everything you need\, and costs $10 to cover stamps and cards for those who can afford it. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nIt’s more fun to write together\, but if you can’t stay\, you can also stop by and pick up postcards to write at home.

SUMMARY:Talk to Our Neighbors About ICE | Phone Bank with SURJ!
DESCRIPTION:Right now is the time to intervene. To step up. To move our people. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs the Trump Administration continues to deploy violent ICE agents to our nation’s cities\, we remain clear and centered on the following truths: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhite working class Americans have so much to gain by standing in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors.\n\n\n\nTrump’s aggressive and violent deployment of ICE is causing many white working class communities to re-evaluate their views and beliefs on immigration.\n\n\n\nListening-forward conversations that support people to reflect on their values\, feelings and experiences can shift their attitudes\, perspective and behavior.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThat’s why we’re channeling these truths into a powerful action that you can take with us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin SURJ to talk to key white working class voters about their feelings on Trump’s immigration policies and deployment of ICE in the key congressional districts that will determine control of the House in the 2026 elections. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTogether\, we can move the needle and build power. No prior experience needed – we’ll provide all the resources\, training and support you need to phone bank with us to have these critical conversations at a critical juncture for shaping public opinion and our society’s commonsense beliefs around immigration policy \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for Details

SUMMARY:Bear Witness- Protest and Food Drive Wednesdays at ICE
DESCRIPTION:“We invite you to stand in solidarity outside the ICE Enforcement & Removal Operations Office in Burlington every Wednesday from 11am-1pm. We’re grateful to those who have previously joined us at this facility\, and we hope that more will consider attending. Together\, we can show love & support for immigrants\, express our shame at ICE\, and bear witness to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government.”Schedule11:00-11:30\, Welcome chat; orientation for new folks; sign-making for those who need them11:30-12:30\, Stand (or sit) with signs12:30-1:00\, Short walk along the sidewalk on District AveThe ICE building in Burlington is the detention and enforcement office for New England. Immigrants must come here for appointments. The standouts are peaceful and offer support for those who must show up here. Signs expressing support for immigrants are welcome. \n\n\n\n\nMore Info & Email Updates\n\n\n\n\nAs far as we know\, the Mall is continuing to restrict parking to mall shoppers only. We continue to invite you to be creative while we work on a solution to this problem. If you scroll down further\, there are some suggested alternative parking possibilities. \n\n\n\nThere was a small group of counter-protesters again at the Saturday vigil\, and we may expect to see counter-protesters more regularly now. The important thing is to not engage with counter-protesters. Please ignore them. We will continue to peacefully exercise our first amendment rights. \n\n\n\nA weather reminder for our gatherings during the winter season — by default\, we will plan to gather\, and ask people to use their own judgment about what conditions are safe for them. Please do be safe. If Burlington schools close due to weather\, we will cancel the usual 11am-1pm public gathering and the organizing team will make some other arrangement to safely maintain the continuity of our vigil for that day that does not require the general public. \n\n\n\nAs usual\, this gathering outside ICE is a very targeted action; it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. We all care about many issues\, but each Wednesday we come together across differences. Regardless of your views on any other political or social issues\, if you support immigrants and their constitutional rights and are committed to nonviolence you are welcome to join us. We have a stash of signs and small U.S. flags that have been donated\, and you’re welcome to bring your own signs and U.S. flags if you have them. \n\n\n\nHere are some parking options that have been suggested\, while we explore a resolution with the mall or other options: \n\n\n\n\nFor those looking to switch to public transportation\, one option is the 350 Bus. This runs from Alewife to Burlington Mall Rd. You can park or bike to the Alewife T stop\, and the bus leaves Alewife at 10:46am and arrives at District Ave. at 11:15am.\n\n\n\nAlternatively\, you can drive to Burlington and park at Simonds Park\, at Rev. Andrew’s United Church of Christ (6 Lexington St. Burlington\, MA)\, or at Rabbi Abramson’s Temple Shalom Emeth\, 16 Lexington St.\,and walk to the 350 bus stop at the intersection of Cambridge St. and Bedford St. That bus leaves at 11:09am and arrives at 11:17am. If you’d like to arrive before 11:00am\, there’s a bus that leaves an hour earlier at 10:09am.\n\n\n\nYou can park at Wegmans. 53 Third Avenue. Burlington\, MA 01803. The Lowell LRTA #14 bus goes by there and stops at Lexington and Mall Rd. That bus is free.\n\n\n\n\nBearing Witness attendees Tina & Jay continue to collect food pantry donations to help local immigrant families. You can drop off unopened food/health/household items by the tree.

SUMMARY:Justice 4 All Thursdays
DESCRIPTION:Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \n\n\n\nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \n\n\n\nSchedule \n\n\n\n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the Email List\n\n\n\nRead past Substack articles\n\n\n\n\nWeather \n\n\n\nAll attendees are ultimately responsible for making their own decisions about travel.  The organizers are going to use the following guidelines to modify or cancel events in advance.  A sudden change in conditions just before or during events\, such as a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning\, could happen and organizers will do their best to communicate any decisions appropriately. \n\n\n\n\n\nNo change to event:Normal to heavy RainWindy\, but no warningsLight snow on ground\, but not falling \n\n\n\nCancel:Burlington schools cancelledTemp/Wind Chill < 20FStorm advisory with snow or high wind predictedFreezing rain falling or predicted \n\n\n\n\n\nShorten event in advance\, limit to standout:Temp/Wind Chill < 30FTemp Ok\, but ground wetDeep snow in grassy area\, sidewalks clear \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat happens at this ICE office? \n\n\n\nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \n\n\n\nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \n\n\n\nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \n\n\n\nSigns \n\n\n\nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \n\n\n\nParking and other tips \n\n\n\nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. Before arriving\, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen\, hydration\, etc.). \n\n\n\nIf you would like to receive updates on Justice4All Thursdays and reminders of our events\, please add your email below to join our list. We’re excited to reinforce the work of our friends at Bearing Witness and to support our immigrant neighbors. We hope that you will join us. \n\n\n\nSee you in Burlington! \n\n\n\n~Justice4All Thursdays organizers and the Greater Assabet Indivisible Network
