In this 90-minute session inspired by Indivisible’s “Truth Brigade\,” attendees will learn positive approaches to political conversation at a time of unprecedented polarization and disinformation. \n\n\n\nAttendees will understand how to recognize disinformation\, when to engage (and when NOT to)\, and what they can do to change the dynamic through truthful\, firm\, and friendly conversation tactics. Attendees may role-play de-escalation\, practice finding common ground\, focus on fact sharing\, experiment with “stop and think” questions\, and try drafting social media comments. Staying composed during rapid response moments is easier said than done\, and this hands-on session will prepare attendees to communicate effectively and positively. \n\n\n\nAbout the presenter: Vanessa is a Cornell-trained family mediator who has logged many thousands of hours facilitating interpersonal conflict.
