SUMMARY:Dismantling Detention | Immigrant Justice Summer Call # 4: How to Funnel Support for Immigrant Justice in Your Community
DESCRIPTION:When ICE comes to your community\, do you know what to do? This summer\, Indivisible is giving you a blueprint. Immigrant Justice Summer is a five-call national training series that will level up how you show up for immigrant justice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImmigrant Justice Summer Call # 4: How to Funnel Support for Immigrant Justice in Your Community\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen an ICE surge hits\, community support floods in from every dirWhen an ICE surge hits\, community support floods in from every direction. Without a system to direct it\, that energy scatters. This call trains you on how to build a link tree that functions as your community’s entry point into the immigrant-led response\, channeling new people\, information\, and training and mutual resources directly to where they’re needed on the ground. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn this one-hour national training call\, you will: \n\n\n\n\nLearn what the funnel model looks like in practice: how your group routes community support to the organizations leading the response without creating a parallel structure.\n\n\n\nGet trained on how to build a link tree that captures what people need to plug in\, including messaging guidance\, mutual aid resources\, direct support campaigns for people impacted\, and training opportunities for people who want to get involved.\n\n\n\nHear directly from a group leader who has used this model in a real surge scenario\, sharing what they put on their link tree\, how they vetted it\, and how they kept it current.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou’ll leave with the knowledge and a concrete tool to set up your own link tree and put it in your community’s hands. This is the fourth call in the five-part Immigrant Justice Summer training series\, open to all Indivisible members. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSign Up for Link and Details\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Justice 4 All Thursdays
DESCRIPTION:Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \n\n\n\nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \n\n\n\nSchedule \n\n\n\n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the Email List\n\n\n\nRead past Substack articles\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime to Re-Stock\n\n\n\nComfort Cart Running Low on Food Staples \n\n\n\nNow that it is a 5-day/week operation\, the Comfort Cart can run low on food quickly. Please consider bringing a bag of food or donating cash using the Venmo QR below. \n\n\n\nYour generosity is always appreciated. Thank you! \n\n\n\n\n\nWeather \n\n\n\nAll attendees are ultimately responsible for making their own decisions about travel.  The organizers are going to use the following guidelines to modify or cancel events in advance.  A sudden change in conditions just before or during events\, such as a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning\, could happen and organizers will do their best to communicate any decisions appropriately. \n\n\n\n\n\nNo change to event:Normal to heavy RainWindy\, but no warningsLight snow on ground\, but not falling \n\n\n\nCancel:Burlington schools cancelledTemp/Wind Chill < 20FStorm advisory with snow or high wind predictedFreezing rain falling or predicted \n\n\n\n\n\nShorten event in advance\, limit to standout:Temp/Wind Chill < 30FTemp Ok\, but ground wetDeep snow in grassy area\, sidewalks clear \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat happens at this ICE office? \n\n\n\nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \n\n\n\nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \n\n\n\nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \n\n\n\nSigns \n\n\n\nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \n\n\n\nParking and other tips \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. \n\n\n\n\n\nBefore arriving\, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen\, hydration\, etc.). \n\n\n\nIf you would like to receive updates on Justice4All Thursdays and reminders of our events\, please add your email below to join our list. We’re excited to reinforce the work of our friends at Bearing Witness and to support our immigrant neighbors. We hope that you will join us. \n\n\n\nSee you in Burlington! \n\n\n\n~Justice4All Thursdays organizers and the Greater Assabet Indivisible Network

SUMMARY:GAIN August Membership Meeting: Speakers Mass Surveilance and "Democracy on the Ballot"
DESCRIPTION:Seems like everyone’s talking about FLOCK cameras. Learn more from some of our local experts. Here’s the backgrounds of our speakers for GAIN’s upcoming membership meeting. Don’t miss this important discussion. \n\n\n\nAllison Richardson “Exploring Mass Surveillance: what it is\, how it has been used\, and how it has affected our 4th amendment rights.” \n\n\n\nThis talk will address the concerns and issues around adopting AI driven mass surveillance technology. From automatic license plate readers\, to facial recognition video cameras\, to first responder drones\, our technology is rapidly increasing\, but what safeguards are in place to ensure it is used properly and that our rights to privacy are upheld? How has this technology currently been used and abused? What data does it collect\, how is that data stored and who can access it? We will wrap up with some actions we can take at a local level to try to put safeguards in place to ensure our 4th amendment rights are upheld. \n\n\n\nAllison Richardson is a member of the Steering Committee for Indivisible Maynard Area. In April she got connected to Mass50501’s Flock Off Campaign and learned that Mass50501 felt turning off surveillance may be the best way to disrupt ICE. She joined a coalition of folks from about 30 towns in MA including Framingham\, Tewksbury\, Salem\, Woburn and Waltham with groups including LUCE\, Billerica United\, North Shore Progressives\, Mass50501 along with a couple folks from ACLU of Massachusetts who are trying to turn off Flock Cameras in their towns\, push for state legislation to regulate mass surveillance systems and pass local by-laws to protect our communities and 4th amendment rights. \n\n\n\nSpeaker: John Griffin “Democracy on the Ballot” John Griffin is the Executive Director of Partners in Democracy MA Action. \n\n\n\nBefore coming to PID\, he spent a decade working in Massachusetts policy and politics\, including as Massachusetts Policy Director at Democrats for Education Reform. He has experience advising nonprofits\, campaigns\, and civil society organizations on achieving their policy goals in both Massachusetts and Washington\, D.C. John holds a Master in Public Policy degree from the Harvard Kennedy School and speaks French\, Spanish\, Italian\, and Modern Greek. He lives in Walpole\, where he also grew up and graduated from Walpole High School.ights. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible and coalition partner events is a commitment to nonviolent action. SUMMARY:Postcards at Panera | Biweekly in North Andover
DESCRIPTION:Come join us to write postcards with Greater Andover Indivisible’s friendly community. Our overarching objective is to get progressive candidates into office approve progressive legislation / defeat MAGA legislation wherever possible.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAvailable postcard campaigns vary from week to week and by pick-up location. We write cards to key districts around the country to: – Provide info about voter registration and encourage people to register; – Remind people of upcoming elections and encourage voting by providing important information about when/where/how to vote; – Build name recognition for progressive candidates; – Inform people about what their MAGA elected officials are doing; – and more. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nScripts vary but often use top-of-mind issues\, like healthcare and cost of living\, to attract recipients’ attention. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. SUMMARY:Bear Witness- Protest and Food Drive Wednesdays at ICE
DESCRIPTION:Updated with New Carpool and Parking Information! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBEARING WITNESS STANDOUT SCHEDULE AND GUIDELINES \n\n\n\nAbove all\, we are committed to nonviolence. \n\n\n\n\nThe standout takes place every Wednesday\, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. \n\n\n\n\n\nFrom 11 am to noon\, Bearing Witness organizers and special guest speakers address those gathered and discuss a variety of immigration-related topics. \n\n\n\n\n\nFrom noon-12:30 pm\, the loudspeakers are turned toward the ICE building and those gathered are invited to come up to the microphone and read parts of the U.S. Constitution. \n\n\n\n\n\nFrom 12:30-1 p.m.\, the crowd turns and marches down District Avenue to Mall Road\, where we stand with our signs\, sing and chant\, and wave to passing motorists. \n\n\n\n\n\nWe ALWAYS stand peacefully with signs outside the ICE facility.\n\n\n\n\n\nWe ALWAYS hold signs with supportive messages about immigrants and/or against ICE. We do not focus on other issues. \n\n\n\n\n\nWe do not block the entrance\, approach ICE agents\, or block traffic on District Avenue.\n\n\n\n\n\nWe DO NOT stand in restricted areas as designated by Burlington police.\n\n\n\n\n\nWe IGNORE and do not engage with “counter protestors\,” those who are supporters of ICE.\n\n\n\n\nINTERACTIONS WITH DETAINEES AND ICE OFFICIALS\n\n\n\nImmigrants who are fortunate to leave the facility have shown gratitude for our presence and some share their stories with us. \n\n\n\n\nICE agents tend to cover their faces with masks\, many record us with their phones\, others give a smug smile or laugh\, though they rarely say anything.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe security officers stationed at the front of the building have not bothered us to date. \n\n\n\n\n\nMore Info & Email Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBEARING WITNESS CARPOOL SERVICE \n\n\n\n\nWe have a NEW volunteer-led carpool\, which operates from a few nearby parking lots. Availability is limited so sign up in advance is highly recommended\, but not required. You can request a ride – or volunteer to be a driver –  using this link (you will receive an email with full details about parking\, etc.):  https://tally.so/r/GxrQkO\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOTHER PARKING OPTIONS \n\n\n\n\nOther than the carpool option\, parking remains an issue for attendees. Please note that you will likely be towed if you park in any private lots along District Avenue or at the Burlington Mall. National Development\, owners of The District properties along District Avenue\, have contracted with Hunter Security Services and Murray’s Towing and will tow cars suspected of parked to attend the standout.  \n\n\n\n\n\nParking is no longer allowed at the AMC Burlington lot. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe MBTA 350 bus runs from the Alewife T stop to Burlington Mall Road. Exit the bus at the “Burlington Mall Road” stop\, opposite NE Executive Park\, which is at the intersection of Mall Road and District Avenue. \n\n\n\n\n\nIf you prefer a shorter bus ride\, you can drive to Burlington and park at the United Church of Christ (6 Lexington St.\, Burlington) or Temple Shalom Emeth (16 Lexington St.\, Burlington) and walk to the 350 bus stop at the intersection of Cambridge Street and Bedford Street.\n\n\n\n\nSIGNS FOR THE STANDOUT\n\n\n\nDue to the ongoing parking issues\, we recommend that standout attendees do not bring their own signs (it clearly shows the towing company that you’re heading to the standout).  \n\n\n\nInstead\, please consider borrowing a sign from the large selection offered by Bearing Witness at each Wednesday standout. Upon arrival ask any safety marshall (wearing an orange vest) for the location of the box of signs. At the conclusion of the standout\, please return the signs to the box.  \n\n\n\nIf you choose to bring a sign — and if you use our new carpool service feel free to bring a sign — please remember that this is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility and is not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside the ICE facility we must remain focused on immigration. Our goal is to come together across any political differences to show our collective support for immigrants and their rights. \n\n\n\nNeed help or ideas for making a sign? Follow these tips! \n\n\n\nBearing Witness attendees Tina & Jay continue to collect food pantry donations to help local immigrant families. You can drop off unopened food/health/household items by the tree.

SUMMARY:Postcard Party
DESCRIPTION:Send hand-written postcards to voters in states that will play a key role in taking back Congress and in electing leaders who will fight back against the current authoritarian regime. Postcards educate voters\, urge them to register to vote\, and urge them to vote for specific candidates in special elections\, primaries\, and the November 2026 mid-term elections. Hand-written postcards have been proven in multiple studies to boost turnout enough to swing elections. Each packet of 15 postcards has everything you need\, and costs $10 to cover stamps and cards for those who can afford it. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nIt’s more fun to write together\, but if you can’t stay\, you can also stop by and pick up postcards to write at home.

SUMMARY:Patriots Standing Up for Democracy
DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible event! \n\n\n\nWe have our peaceful Stand Outs weekly. Every Sunday from noon to 1:30pm we line the street around our Common and hold signs that are relevant to fighting for our Democracy. We sing songs and we do chants\, we are unified in our love for our country and we know it is important for us to stand up and be seen\, be heard and be with other Patriots that care about our country. We have copies of the Constitution and flags along with signs that can be used. We welcome all to stand tall with us. We also collect food and funds for our town’s Food Pantry. We are in this together and helping our community in this small way is an act of empathy\, understanding and kindness that we encourage. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Monthly Standout Against Authoritarianism
DESCRIPTION:This a Indivisible Maynard Area event! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe meet the 3rd Saturday of every month by Veterans Memorial Park (at the corner of Summer St. and Nason St.) to stand up against authoritarianism.
