DESCRIPTION:Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm\, starting September 4. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \n\n\n\nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \n\n\n\nSchedule (Starting Thursday\, September 4 – more dates to follow) \n\n\n\n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \n\n\n\nWhat happens at this ICE office? \n\n\n\nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \n\n\n\nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \n\n\n\nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \n\n\n\nSigns \n\n\n\nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \n\n\n\nParking and other tips \n\n\n\nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. DESCRIPTION:This Thursday\, join us at the Pleasant St/Highlnd St corner of the Newton Square rotary\, by the WWII Veteran’s Memorial! The T&G claimed\,that\, at the time the Memorial was dedicated in 2013\, 21\,000 vehicles passed through the Newton Square Rotary daily. Traffic is bumper to bumper during the time we will be standing out. Our signs remind passers-by of the fact that the responsibility for the cruel shutdown lays squarely at the feet of the MAGA Republicans and the heartless President. They control the Presidency\, the House\, the Senate and the Supreme Court. \n\n\n\nFilled with the enthusiasm from last Saturday’s No King’s protest\, let’s take advantage of the momentum and standout at the Newton Square Rotary during evening rush hour! Since we’ve got the signs\, let’s use them again! We have 12 easily readable posters for our Shutdown Showdown Standouts. Last Thursday 3 of us were overwhelmed with support from the passing vehicles while standing at the Pleasant/Newton Ave corner of the rotary. \n\n\n\nThe high temperature on this upcoming\, sunny Thursday is 56 degrees\, with only a light breeze! Lessons learned last week were\, wear gloves when it’s breezy and be aware of the sun blinding drivers heading west at this time of day. I’m sure we’ll learn more this Thursday. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nWe are happy to standout at other locations on subsequent Thursdays. DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible event! \n\n\n\nJoin us on Saturdays 12pm-2pm to Stand Out and Up with your signs of protest and support. As a small and passionate community\, this high visibility location is very impactful and fulfilling. Meet fellow citizens to join your voice in Solidarity and for Justice. \n\n\n\nHosted by: Hopkinton resident\, a small and growing group of local and concerned Massachusetts citizens who live in Hopkinton and surrounding towns. Our mission is to build trust and relationships between local communities as we face the growing risks of: \n\n\n\nRising authoritarianism\, bigotry and hate. The erosion of civil liberties – no due process. The worsening economy with fewer jobs. Climate change and health crisis. \n\n\n\nRemember to bring water and hat It gets hot out here! \n\n\n\nIt’s best to park around The Common to then stand at the Spirit of the Boston Marathon Statue & Start Line\, 93 East Main Street\, Hopkinton. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nHere are some important ground rules. We cannot disrupt traffic. Please stay out of the street\, and always use crosswalks. This is a peaceful protest. If someone becomes aggressive towards one of us\, we should all be ready to de-escalate the situation (don’t respond to the aggressor\, walk away and if necessary\, get support from the Hopkinton Police). Please look out for each other. The Hopkinton Police has been notified of event\, and they support our right to PEACEFULLY protest. Thank you. \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
