DESCRIPTION:This fall\, at the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention\, party members will vote on a new platform.In preparation\, all registered Democrats are invited to participate in virtual hearings to shape the platform. The Massachusetts Progressive Action Organizing Committee urges Dems to speak out in support of platform planks that benefit workers and working families\, including increasing the minimum wage\, preventing wage theft\, and the Corporate Fair Share Act. IMC is a member of the MPAOC. \n\n\n\nThe platform hearings are all virtual and require preregistration. For people with mobility challenges\, there is limited parking on Main Street on a first come\, first served basis. Here are some important ground rules. We cannot disrupt traffic. Please stay out of the street\, and always use crosswalks. This is a peaceful protest. If someone becomes aggressive towards one of us\, we should all be ready to de-escalate the situation (don’t respond to the aggressor\, walk away\, find a volunteer with a reflecting vest or a Westborough Police Officer). DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible and Billerica United Event! \nJoin us Saturday June 28th 11:00am-12:30pm on Billerica Common for our second annual standout since Roe v Wade was overturned by the Dobbs decision. \nBigger Than Dobbs II: Stop Trump’s and the GOP’s War on Women \nLast year\, Indivisibles warned the public about Project 2025 and that abortion is just the “tip of the iceberg” and Republicans are trying to “turn back the clock” with antiquated laws like the Comstock Act. \nThis year we are seeing the implementation of Project 2025’s regressive\, white\, Christian patriarchy which targets women. Indivisibles are sounding the alarm across Massachusetts about attacks on our rights and freedoms from voting to bodily autonomy. \nThe MAGA agenda has proven time and again to be antithetical to women’s progress\, cloaked in the guise of policy and patriotism but delivering a ruthless blow to the very foundation of women’s rights. DESCRIPTION:Bigger Than Dobbs II: Stop Trump’s and the GOP’s War on Women \nMarch Forward/Indivisible Quincy is organizing a “Bigger Than Dobbs” rally to Stop the War on Women\, Sunday 6/29 from 2-4 pm in the Hancock Adams Common outside Quincy City Hall. Speakers will include local activists\, organizations\, and elected officials. Some signs will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own! \nOur event is part of a weekend of action supported by Indivisible and the Women’s March to mark the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision\, sadly overturning the decades of case law for Roe vs Wade. In the barrage of attacks on our democracy\, it is marginalized groups and women who are the targets. Despite our warnings and protests\, the current Republican party\, with Donald Trump at the helm\, have accelerated their plan to implement Project 2025. \nTheir plan to restore a white\, Christian patriarchy was clearly stated in Project 2025. We warned that Republicans were “turning back the clock” and that “abortion was just the tip of the iceberg.” Each section detailed how the freedoms of women would be curtailed. As we pointed out\, abortion bans are just the beginning. Their aim is to put women back into traditional “Biblically-based marriages\,” without careers or reproductive rights or even the right to vote\, and to punish those who won’t abide by their rules. \nIn the time since SCOTUS ruled to overturn Roe\, we have seen a degradation of democracy across the board while attacks on women have been quietly happening. There aren’t armed\, masked men abducting women who won’t comply (yet) but it’s clear – from the cancellation of medical research pertaining to women\, to the firings of top female military officials\, to voter suppression law specifically targeting married women\, the GOP War on Women must be stopped. This is our message: Stop Trump’s War on Women! \n\n\n\nRSVP

DESCRIPTION:Marshfield is always striving to be a more diverse community and welcoming to strangers. One way the town has done this is to issue proclamations recognizing communities in the town on specific days and months. Unfortunately\, for the first time in three years\, there was no proclamation issued to recognize Pride Month. \n\n\n\nThe reason there is no proclamation is that the chair of the select board had the Pride Proclamation line item removed from the agenda in an early June meeting. Thanks to the efforts of community members\, advocates\, and allies\, the Pride Proclamation line item has been added to the agenda for Monday’s Selectboard meeting. At the meeting\, the Pride Proclamation will be voted on by the full selectboard on the last day of Pride Month. Unfortunately\, there is no guarantee Proclamation will pass. \n\n\n\nThis is why on Monday\, June 30th\, we are having a rally at the town green to show the select board that Marshfield is a community that supports diversity and inclusion. Starting at 5:00\, we’ll meet at the town green on the corner of Moraine St. and Snow Rd. in Marshfield center.
