DESCRIPTION:Join us as we continue to learn the basics of origami\, and explore various types of birds\, at the BitBar!. We will discuss using our newly learned in skills in creating origami as a protest art. You are welcome to come\, relax\, and join us in simply creating origami. \n\n\n\nOr\, you have the option to join us in the following action…. \n\n\n\nWe hope to create as many origami birds as possible. Long considered a symbol of peace and hope\, we plan to come together and deliver them to the nearest ice detention center on President’s Day\, February 16\, 2026. \n\n\n\nPerhaps we’ll gather them in a garland to hang on a fence or from a tree. It won’t matter if there is one bird or an entire flock—the symbolism is the same: In these times of chaos and lack of empathy\, where hatred is made acceptable\, we will stand together for peace. We will stand for the love of one another. We will recognize the inherent worth of all of us\, no matter from where we come. DESCRIPTION:Weekly GAIN Standout – Northborough\, MA \n\n\n\nPlease join Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) each Wednesday from 5:30pm – 6:30pm in front of Northborough’s “Old Town Hall” at the intersection of Routes 20 and 135\, next to CVS. Meet our group as we hold our signs\, create community\, educate the public\, and create good trouble. This is a fun-filled event and a busy location with great visibility. \n\n\n\nWe are continuing this weekly standout even while it’s dark – because it’s a great spot. The streetlights and headlights keep our signs visible. Some bring colored lights or glow sticks to make it more fun. \n\n\n\nPlease bring a sign if you have one\, but that’s not a requirement. We often have extras\, and sometimes blanks to create your own. \n\n\n\nNote: If the forecast shows 32 degrees or lower or heavy rain for the standout time\, please consider the event canceled. \n\n\n\nPlease park in the free municipal parking lot on Blake Street\, next to the standout. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \n\n\n\nSigns \n\n\n\nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \n\n\n\nParking and other tips \n\n\n\nFor parking\, please park discretely\, and do not openly carry your signs. Please look for the donation boxes in the center of the rotary by the monument. \n\n\n\nIt’s best to park at Bay State Commons\, 600 Union Street\, and walk about 2 blocks to Main Street and the rotary. Please try to leave the parking spots closest to the Commons’ businesses open for business patrons. For people with mobility challenges\, there is limited parking on Main Street on a first come\, first served basis. Here are some important ground rules. We cannot disrupt traffic. Please stay out of the street\, and always use crosswalks. This is a peaceful protest. If someone becomes aggressive towards one of us\, we should all be ready to de-escalate the situation (don’t respond to the aggressor\, walk away\, find a volunteer with a reflecting vest or a Westborough Police Officer). DESCRIPTION:Standing out Home Depot Natick entrance sending a clear message to stop allowing ICE raids on their property and to boycott shopping there! \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nAll over the country\, ICE agents are targeting immigrants in and around Home Depot\, and these atrocities are happening on Home Depot’s watch\, on its properties\, with its silence. \n\n\n\nThe Home Depot has not publicly resisted or condemned these raids or demanded that the Administration stop assaulting and abducting people on and outside its properties. With its silence and inaction\, Home Depot has become ICE’s passive partner. \n\n\n\nIn order to show up for immigrant community members and defeat authoritarianism\, we must engage in the dual strategy of electing people who will stand up to Trump\, and engaging in noncooperation (also known as civil resistance). Movements with no civil resistance actions\, stopping democratic backsliding only happens 7.5% of the time. With a civil resistance added to the movement\, that percentage goes up to 51.7%! \n\n\n\nIn addition to this\, we need to run civil resistance campaigns that hit the power holders where it hurts! When we do symbolic actions like one day protests and vigils\, which are useful in their own way\, power holders can easily ignore them. When we engage in actions that cost money like a boycott\, cost elected leaders their seats\, or stop business as usual\, they are far more likely to respond. So we engage in noncooperation because we must impose real and tangible costs to powerholders’ bottom-lines! \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We’re grateful to those who have previously joined us at this facility\, and we hope that more will consider attending. Together\, we can show love & support for immigrants\, express our shame at ICE\, and bear witness to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government.”Schedule11:00-11:30\, Welcome chat; orientation for new folks; sign-making for those who need them11:30-12:30\, Stand (or sit) with signs12:30-1:00\, Short walk along the sidewalk on District AveThe ICE building in Burlington is the detention and enforcement office for New England. Immigrants must come here for appointments. The standouts are peaceful and offer support for those who must show up here. Signs expressing support for immigrants are welcome. \n\n\n\n\nMore Info & Email Updates\n\n\n\n\nAs far as we know\, the Mall is continuing to restrict parking to mall shoppers only. We continue to invite you to be creative while we work on a solution to this problem. If you scroll down further in this email\, there are some suggested alternative parking possibilities. \n\n\n\nThere was a small group of counter-protesters again at the Saturday vigil\, and we may expect to see counter-protesters more regularly now. The important thing is to not engage with counter-protesters. Please ignore them. We will continue to peacefully exercise our first amendment rights. \n\n\n\nA weather reminder for our gatherings during the winter season — by default\, we will plan to gather\, and ask people to use their own judgment about what conditions are safe for them. Please do be safe. If Burlington schools close due to weather\, we will cancel the usual 11am-1pm public gathering and the organizing team will make some other arrangement to safely maintain the continuity of our vigil for that day that does not require the general public. \n\n\n\nAs usual\, this gathering outside ICE is a very targeted action; it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. We all care about many issues\, but each Wednesday we come together across differences. Regardless of your views on any other political or social issues\, if you support immigrants and their constitutional rights and are committed to nonviolence you are welcome to join us. We have a stash of signs and small U.S. flags that have been donated\, and you’re welcome to bring your own signs and U.S. flags if you have them. \n\n\n\nHere are some parking options that have been suggested\, while we explore a resolution with the mall or other options: \n\n\n\n\nFor those looking to switch to public transportation\, one option is the 350 Bus. This runs from Alewife to Burlington Mall Rd. You can park or bike to the Alewife T stop\, and the bus leaves Alewife at 10:46am and arrives at District Ave. at 11:15am.\n\n\n\nAlternatively\, you can drive to Burlington and park at Simonds Park\, at Rev. Andrew’s United Church of Christ (6 Lexington St. Burlington\, MA)\, or at Rabbi Abramson’s Temple Shalom Emeth\, 16 Lexington St.\,and walk to the 350 bus stop at the intersection of Cambridge St. and Bedford St. That bus leaves at 11:09am and arrives at 11:17am. If you’d like to arrive before 11:00am\, there’s a bus that leaves an hour earlier at 10:09am.\n\n\n\nYou can park at Wegmans. 53 Third Avenue. Burlington\, MA 01803. The Lowell LRTA #14 bus goes by there and stops at Lexington and Mall Rd. That bus is free.\n\n\n\n\nBearing Witness attendees Tina & Jay continue to collect food pantry donations to help local immigrant families. You can drop off unopened food/health/household items by the tree.
