Signs expressing support for immigrants are welcome. \n\n\n\n\nMore Info & Email Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs far as we know\, the Mall is continuing to restrict parking to mall shoppers only. We continue to invite you to be creative while we work on a solution to this problem. If you scroll down further\, there are some suggested alternative parking possibilities. \n\n\n\n\n\nThere was a small group of counter-protesters again at the Saturday vigil\, and we may expect to see counter-protesters more regularly now. The important thing is to not engage with counter-protesters. Please ignore them. We will continue to peacefully exercise our first amendment rights. \n\n\n\nA weather reminder for our gatherings during the winter season — by default\, we will plan to gather\, and ask people to use their own judgment about what conditions are safe for them. Please do be safe. If Burlington schools close due to weather\, we will cancel the usual 11am-1pm public gathering and the organizing team will make some other arrangement to safely maintain the continuity of our vigil for that day that does not require the general public. \n\n\n\nAs usual\, this gathering outside ICE is a very targeted action; it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. We all care about many issues\, but each Wednesday we come together across differences. Regardless of your views on any other political or social issues\, if you support immigrants and their constitutional rights and are committed to nonviolence you are welcome to join us. We have a stash of signs and small U.S. flags that have been donated\, and you’re welcome to bring your own signs and U.S. flags if you have them. \n\n\n\nHere are some parking options that have been suggested\, while we explore a resolution with the mall or other options: \n\n\n\n\nFor those looking to switch to public transportation\, one option is the 350 Bus. This runs from Alewife to Burlington Mall Rd. You can park or bike to the Alewife T stop\, and the bus leaves Alewife at 10:46am and arrives at District Ave. at 11:15am.\n\n\n\nAlternatively\, you can drive to Burlington and park at Simonds Park\, at Rev. Andrew’s United Church of Christ (6 Lexington St. Burlington\, MA)\, or at Rabbi Abramson’s Temple Shalom Emeth\, 16 Lexington St.\,and walk to the 350 bus stop at the intersection of Cambridge St. and Bedford St. That bus leaves at 11:09am and arrives at 11:17am. If you’d like to arrive before 11:00am\, there’s a bus that leaves an hour earlier at 10:09am.\n\n\n\nYou can park at Wegmans. 53 Third Avenue. Burlington\, MA 01803. The Lowell LRTA #14 bus goes by there and stops at Lexington and Mall Rd. That bus is free.\n\n\n\n\nBearing Witness attendees Tina & Jay continue to collect food pantry donations to help local immigrant families. You can drop off unopened food/health/household items by the tree.

We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \n\n\n\nSigns \n\n\n\nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \n\n\n\nParking and other tips \n\n\n\nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. DESCRIPTION:Among the many questions likely to appear on the November 2026 ballot are two that would result in ruinous revenue loss\, at the very moment state finances are challenged by unprecedented cuts in federal funds and programs. If passed\, these ballot initiatives will \n\n\n\n\nReduce the MA personal income tax rate from 5% to 4%\, thereby cutting at least  $5B annually (more than ten percent of total annual tax revenues) from the funds needed to pay for everything our state government provides; and\n\n\n\nRadically rewrite the state’s tax-cap statute (“chapter 62F”) in a manner that will shrink available state revenues by additional billions of dollars in a volatile and irrational manner. \n\n\n\n\nOur panel of experts\, Phineas Baxandall\, Director of Research and Policy Analysis at the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center\, Jessica Tang\, President of the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts (AFT) and Peter Enrich\, Professor Emeritus\, Northeastern University School of Law will discuss the initiatives\, who sponsored them and who opposes them\, their fiscal impacts\, and what we can do to defeat them. John Lippit will moderate. \n\n\n\n\nGet Zoom Link or Recording

Our standout is comprised of a group of seniors who decided to do more than watch the news\, become upset\, anxious\, and feel powerless about what is happening in and to our country. We began a peaceful protest action to register our displeasure! We wanted to demonstrate in a way that empowered us and allowed us to take back some control and voice our concerns. Our motto is “WE MARCHED THEN\, WE MARCH NOW.” Since we range in age from the 70s to 90s\, we try to standout on Fridays from 1pm to 2pm. We standout weather permitting so we would not standout in the rain or snow. We are looking forward to warmer weather. DESCRIPTION:Singing Resistance Walpole is a new choir in the area\, and you are invited to join us!  Sponsored by the Walpole Peace and Justice Group\, Neponset Valley Progressives\, the Justice and Witness Ministry at United Church in Walpole (UCW) and others\, this choir will meet for just the second time\, on Saturday\, March 14. \n\n\n\nSinging Resistance is a mass movement of singers\, rising out of the experience of people in Minneapolis\, now spreading throughout the country\, with a goal of “protecting and caring for our communities in the face of rising authoritarianism”.   We are looking to build a Singing Resistance Choir in this part of Massachusetts\, excited about the opportunity to support others through music\, serving our communities as a source of strength and hope\, part of a “loving\, nonviolent\, and joyful civil resistance movement in the US”.  \n\n\n\nLast week\, at our first meeting\, we learned two beautiful and powerful new songs.  Though far from being professional singers\, we sounded great and actually followed up by walking our songs out to a peace vigil being held in the center of town!  We will be learning several more songs this week and next and anticipate sharing our singing with people in local towns on No Kings Day\, March 28! \n\n\n\nWe urge you to join us on Saturday\, March 14 to learn new songs and old – “Resilience”\, “Hold On”\, “We Are Here with our Neighbors”\,  “We Shall Not Be Moved”- songs easy to pick up\, inspiring\, empowering\, and just fun to sing together. \n\n\n\nNote: Our meeting this Saturday will be held in the sanctuary of United Church.  Enter the church at a side door on the right\, off a large parking lot\, behind Turning Point Recovery Center.  If parking is tight\, you might look for spaces in the municipal parking lot near-by\, behind the Walpole Town Hall.
