DESCRIPTION:This Thursday\, join us at the Pleasant St/Highlnd St corner of the Newton Square rotary\, by the WWII Veteran’s Memorial! The T&G claimed\,that\, at the time the Memorial was dedicated in 2013\, 21\,000 vehicles passed through the Newton Square Rotary daily. Traffic is bumper to bumper during the time we will be standing out. Our signs remind passers-by of the fact that the responsibility for the cruel shutdown lays squarely at the feet of the MAGA Republicans and the heartless President. They control the Presidency\, the House\, the Senate and the Supreme Court. \n\n\n\nFilled with the enthusiasm from last Saturday’s No King’s protest\, let’s take advantage of the momentum and standout at the Newton Square Rotary during evening rush hour! Since we’ve got the signs\, let’s use them again! We have 12 easily readable posters for our Shutdown Showdown Standouts. Last Thursday 3 of us were overwhelmed with support from the passing vehicles while standing at the Pleasant/Newton Ave corner of the rotary. \n\n\n\nThe high temperature on this upcoming\, sunny Thursday is 56 degrees\, with only a light breeze! Lessons learned last week were\, wear gloves when it’s breezy and be aware of the sun blinding drivers heading west at this time of day. We are all coming together because we are frustrated and angry but during our protests we are joyful and are enjoying each other’s company. The typical crowd size is between 130 and 200. DESCRIPTION:Make sure our neighbors don’t go hungry! \n\n\n\nPlease join Make Hunger History\, the Merrimack Valley Food Bank\, and anti-hunger advocates from across the state on Tuesday\, October 28\, from 12:00–12:45 p.m.\, on the steps of the State House (Beacon Street\, Boston). \n\n\n\nWe’ll rally and hold a press event in response to the ongoing federal shutdown and its devastating impacts on SNAP and other federal nutrition programs. Please arrive at noon; the speaking program begins at 12:15. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nIf the situation remains unchanged\, SNAP recipients will not receive their November benefits on time. This would be the first time in history that the federal government failed to issue SNAP benefits during a shutdown. The federal government must act immediately to ensure that these benefits aren’t interrupted\, and if it fails to do so\, the State must step in to fill the gap so Massachusetts residents can afford to feed their families. \n\n\n\nSNAP helps 1 in 6 Massachusetts residents put food on the table\, while providing 9 meals for every meal provided by a food bank. Every month\, SNAP households spend about $210 million in benefits—$1 of every $5 spent at local grocery stores and farmers’ markets.

Come join our well-oiled machine and learn how. \n\n\n\nDress for the weather! Nearby side streets have good parking. We will meet at the top of Carrlyn Rd for instructions and distribution of equipment. If you have one\, bring a big American flag to wave! \n\n\n\nYou may also bring a sign to show to folks passing on the main road. Other possible messages include NO to Corruption\, NO taking health care from working families\, NO cuts to VA care\, NO turning troops on our own people. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
