SUMMARY:Get ICE out of Home Depot -Natick
DESCRIPTION:All over the country\, ICE agents are targeting immigrants in and around Home Depot\, and these atrocities are happening on Home Depot’s watch\, on its properties\, with its silence. \n\n\n\nThe Home Depot has not publicly resisted or condemned these raids or demanded that the Administration stop assaulting and abducting people on and outside its properties. With its silence and inaction\, Home Depot has become ICE’s passive partner. \n\n\n\nIn order to show up for immigrant community members and defeat authoritarianism\, we must engage in the dual strategy of electing people who will stand up to Trump\, and engaging in noncooperation (also known as civil resistance). Movements with no civil resistance actions\, stopping democratic backsliding only happens 7.5% of the time. With a civil resistance added to the movement\, that percentage goes up to 51.7%! \n\n\n\nIn addition to this\, we need to run civil resistance campaigns that hit the power holders where it hurts! When we do symbolic actions like one day protests and vigils\, which are useful in their own way\, power holders can easily ignore them. When we engage in actions that cost money like a boycott\, cost elected leaders their seats\, or stop business as usual\, they are far more likely to respond. So we engage in noncooperation because we must impose real and tangible costs to powerholders’ bottom-lines! \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nSuggested signs: \n\n\n\nICE out of Home Depot We Ain’t Buying it – stand with immigrant neighbors! DESCRIPTION:Weekly GAIN Standout – Northborough\, MA \n\n\n\nPlease join Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) each Wednesday from 5:30pm – 6:30pm in front of Northborough’s “Old Town Hall” at the intersection of Routes 20 and 135\, next to CVS. Meet our group as we hold our signs\, create community\, educate the public\, and create good trouble. This is a fun-filled event and a busy location with great visibility. \n\n\n\nWe are continuing this weekly standout even while it’s dark – because it’s a great spot. The streetlights and headlights keep our signs visible. Some bring colored lights or glow sticks to make it more fun. \n\n\n\nPlease bring a sign if you have one\, but that’s not a requirement. We often have extras\, and sometimes blanks to create your own. \n\n\n\nNote: If the forecast shows 32 degrees or lower or heavy rain for the standout time\, please consider the event canceled. \n\n\n\nPlease park in the free municipal parking lot on Blake Street\, next to the standout. SUMMARY:Team ENOUGH Welcome Session (For Young People Under 26)
DESCRIPTION:Are you a young person between 13 and 25 years old who is interested in taking action around preventing gun violence? Join us for our Team ENOUGH welcome session to learn more about the different ways you can engage. \n\n\n\nTeam ENOUGH is a youth-led program whose mission is to educate young voices about gun violence and mobilize them to take meaningful action against it. Supported by Brady United\, we harness the expertise and experience of today’s youth to advance our intersectional work across the country. \n\n\n\nLed by an Executive Council\, comprised of students just like us\, we believe that diversity is a strength\, and that only when everyone has a seat at the table can we build an effective movement to prevent all gun violence in all communities. \n\n\n\nFor us\, preventing gun violence not only requires regulating access to firearms but also addressing how systemic racism and environmental factors cause this form of bloodshed to run especially rampant in communities of color. You cannot talk about gun violence without talking about police brutality\, white supremacy\, the broken criminal justice system\, poverty\, homophobia\, access to affordable housing\, or the often barriers separating disadvantaged populations from physical and mental healthcare. \n\n\n\n\nGet Zoom Link\n\n\n\n\nSo if you share this belief\, join us for our Team ENOUGH welcome session and become part of the movement to end gun violence in our lifetime.
