SUMMARY:Working Families Party Mass Call: What's Next
DESCRIPTION:Join the Working Families Party Mass Call! \n\n\n\nThis is a moment of converging crises. War abroad\, rising costs at home\, and a political system that too often answers to billionaires instead of working people. On this mass call\, we’ll talk honestly about what’s happening\, what working people are experiencing\, and why the answer is organizing. We’ll hear from movement leaders and candidates about the road ahead and how we build the power to put working-class people in charge. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will plan and take action together and hear about what’s coming up next in our work to build the working families bloc in Congress this year. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Justice 4 All Thursdays
DESCRIPTION:Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \n\n\n\nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \n\n\n\nSchedule \n\n\n\n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the Email List\n\n\n\nRead past Substack articles\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime to Re-Stock\n\n\n\nComfort Cart Running Low on Food Staples \n\n\n\nNow that it is a 5-day/week operation\, the Comfort Cart can run low on food quickly. Please consider bringing a bag of food or donating cash using the Venmo QR below. \n\n\n\nYour generosity is always appreciated. Thank you! \n\n\n\n\n\nWeather \n\n\n\nAll attendees are ultimately responsible for making their own decisions about travel.  The organizers are going to use the following guidelines to modify or cancel events in advance.  A sudden change in conditions just before or during events\, such as a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning\, could happen and organizers will do their best to communicate any decisions appropriately. \n\n\n\n\n\nNo change to event:Normal to heavy RainWindy\, but no warningsLight snow on ground\, but not falling \n\n\n\nCancel:Burlington schools cancelledTemp/Wind Chill < 20FStorm advisory with snow or high wind predictedFreezing rain falling or predicted \n\n\n\n\n\nShorten event in advance\, limit to standout:Temp/Wind Chill < 30FTemp Ok\, but ground wetDeep snow in grassy area\, sidewalks clear \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat happens at this ICE office? \n\n\n\nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \n\n\n\nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \n\n\n\nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \n\n\n\nSigns \n\n\n\nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \n\n\n\nParking and other tips \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. \n\n\n\n\n\nBefore arriving\, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen\, hydration\, etc.). \n\n\n\nIf you would like to receive updates on Justice4All Thursdays and reminders of our events\, please add your email below to join our list. We’re excited to reinforce the work of our friends at Bearing Witness and to support our immigrant neighbors. We hope that you will join us. \n\n\n\nSee you in Burlington! \n\n\n\n~Justice4All Thursdays organizers and the Greater Assabet Indivisible Network

SUMMARY:Block by Block - Phone Bank with SURJ! (Win Primaries for Progressive Champions in CA\, ME & MI!)
DESCRIPTION:Come phone bank with SURJ!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are now in a decisive phase of the fight against authoritarianism\, the threat is real and the stakes are high. And people are fighting back. Millions have protested\, and we’ve watched powerful organizing coming out of Minneapolis\, Chicago\, and other cities that have borne the brunt of ICE’s assaults on our communities. Mass anger exists\, but mass organization does not yet exist at the scale needed to win. Movements become real when they reach millions: organized\, trained\, and acting together. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome take action with SURJ! We’ll be calling voters about primary races working to elect progressive champions in key states and districts to ultimately take back BOTH the House and Senate this November. These races include: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRandy Villegas\, who is a 30-year old son of immigrants and activist for immigrant rights in his area. He is an elected school board trustee in Visalia\, CA and political science professor who is running to represent California’s 22nd congressional district\, representing Bakersfield and portions of the central valley.\n\n\n\nGraham Platner\, who is a Marine\, U.S. Army veteran\, and oyster farmer running to be the next Senator to represent Maine.\n\n\n\nWill Lawrence\, who is an organizer and coalition-builder with experience speaking truth to power and getting results at the local\, state and federal level running to represent Michigan Congressional District 7 in Lansing.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome as you are! No experience needed! Full training & lots of support included! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCandidate Schedule:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVillegas for CA Congressional District 22 – 5/23 5/28\, 5/30\, 6/2 (Election day)\n\n\n\nPlatner for Senator in ME – 6/6\n\n\n\nLawrence for MI Congressional District 7 – 6/14\, 6/18\n\n\n\nCandidate TBD – 6/20\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLogistics:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese phone banks are online on the Zoom platform. Log into the call on Zoom on your computer and bring your phone to make the calls (if you only have one device\, still come!).\n\n\n\nWe have a robust training on the call to give you all the information you need — a script\, technical support\, and coaching throughout.\n\n\n\nReturners can start early.\n\n\n\nYou will receive an email with orientation materials ahead of time.\n\n\n\nPlease note the time zone for call time.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFeeling Unsure?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur model works – learn from the best! Our phonebanks have one of the highest rates of success in the country. No matter whether you’re brand new caller or a seasoned organizer\, if you join our banks\, you can trust that you are putting your effort into a method that works. And you’ll get to learn powerful organizing skills from seasoned leaders!\n\n\n\nOur conversations are based on open-ended questions and deep listening. You do not need to be an expert on the issues or a candidate – our phone banks are successful because we deeply connect with voters and make them feel heard.\n\n\n\nWant to hear what a phonebank is like? Check out this video interviewing SURJ phonebankers.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContext:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs Trump and republicans defund the social safety net and peddle more racist lies\, millions of people are increasingly feeling the effects of the billionaire agenda. We know this fight is on multiple fronts\, and this fall we have an opportunity to harness the energy of the streets and rising resentment towards November’s elections – to not only wrest power from MAGA\, but to put candidates in office who are willing to stand up to Trump and fight for working class people. BOTH the House AND Senate are in play for Democrats to take back control and this year we aim to put progressive working class champions in a position to WIN. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor the last six years\, SURJ’s phone banking program has grown to be one of the strongest in the country\, reaching millions of working class people with our vision of finding our shared interest in standing alongside people of color and rejecting white supremacy. This year is an opportunity to deliver strategic blows to the MAGA agenda and throw down a gauntlet to force the Democratic Party to reckon with true progressive\, working class fighters. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo do this\, we’re focusing on key House districts in California and New York between April and June in addition to a critical Senate race in Maine. In July and August we will shift focus to primaries for key House districts in Minnesota and Michigan. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese races will affect millions of working class people this year. Our work on Primary races this spring and summer will set us up to add more progressive champions to the halls of congress and take back power this November. We will continue to build power to stop MAGA\, by supporting unapologetically progressive working class champions. Alongside our partners across the country\, this is the time for our movements to offer a bold vision and bring our people into it. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout SURJ:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShowing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) is the largest organization in the country that explicitly organizes white communities for justice. Instead of choosing racism\, silence\, or complicity\, we help white communities choose justice. We have thousands of national members and 150+ chapters across the US and Canada.

SUMMARY:Resistance Book Club
DESCRIPTION:Our current presidential administration seems intent on erasing critical aspects of American history\, both historic injustice\, and the struggles for freedom and democracy that are parts of our past. Led by community member and friend of the store Bob Van Meter\, the Resistance Book Club will read works that tell important parts of that history.   \n\n\n\nThe book club will meet on the third Friday of the month at 10:30 AM here at the store. The first meeting will be on Friday\, February 20th\, and the book pick will be The Second Founding by Eric Foner. It’s a concise history of the adoption of the 13th\, 14th\, and 15th Amendments\, which Foner argues should be seen as a second founding of the nation.

SUMMARY:Hands Off Beverly
DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible event! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHANDS OFF BEVERLY has been holding weekly peaceful protests since February 17\, 2025. On Saturdays we are typically between 130 and 400 people. On the big national days of protest (NO KINGS) we are in the thousands. We have signs and cowbells to borrow\, bubbles and the best music by our tireless DJ Jim. We have a permit from the Beverly Police Department and marshals to assist people and answer questions. The best part of our protests are the people. You will have never met so many kind and wonderful folks who over the many months standing out in rain\, cold\, snow and heat have become a close knit family committed to not standing by in the face of the insanity and cruelty of the current administration. If you are peaceful you are welcome. Come and join the group with the best vibe on the North Shore! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
