DESCRIPTION:You may have heard about the inspiring JFK Middle School students that staged a ICE OUT walk-out last month. Now they have joined the campaign to De-ICE Citizens Bank! \n\n\n\nJoin us on Friday\, April 17th to march with student activists from JFK to Citizens Bank via the bike path. We’ll start at 3:10 at the end of the path\, march for an hour to Citizens Bank on King Street\, then hold a rally from approximately 4:15 -5:15. The rally will be held on sidewalk in front of Stop and Shop (Citizens Bank has a branch inside Stop and Shop). \n\n\n\nYou can join the students for all or any part of this. March with them for a bit. Join them at 4:15 at the bank. Or do the whole thing! \n\n\n\nThe students will make some brief remarks at the rally\, and present the De-ICE Citizens Bank Coalition with something to bring to bank headquarters on 4/23 as we protest outside the annual shareholder meeting. \n\n\n\nSend Citizens Bank a clear message: financing private prison and immigration detention facility operators The GEO Group and CoreCivic is bad for business. \n\n\n\nPlease only bring signs specific to this action: De-ICE Citizens Bank; Cages Aren’t Communities; Citizens Bank – Stop Financing ICE Prisons; Citizens Bank + ICE = Human Rights Abuse; ICE Prisons Don’t Strengthen Our Communities; Citizens Bank- Cut Ties With ICE Prisons; etc. We’ll have some extras too. \n\n\n\nNotorious private prison companies The GEO Group and CoreCivic are being called on to be part of an unprecedented expansion in capacity as part of the Trump administration’s mass detention\, deportation\, and surveillance policies. \n\n\n\nTo accommodate the planned increase in detention capacity\, GEO and CoreCivic must undertake expensive construction and renovation projects. Since 2019\, though\, most of their lenders have cut ties with the two companies\, which have faced allegations from forced labor to securities fraud.​ \n\n\n\nStart at bike path from Bridge Road Florence. Originally an administrative building\, people are now detained here\, sometimes for days\, and sleep on a cold floor under Mylar blankets. There is one toilet per cell\, under the watchful eye of a camera. There are no showers\, no handwashing sinks in the cells\, no windows\, no soap\, no food service facility\, no menstrual products for women\, no outdoor time\, and no visitors.

DESCRIPTION:Reporting shows that DHS/ICE are actively scouting\, purchasing\, and planning to convert approximately 23 warehouses nationwide into new immigration detention and processing facilities. These sites are expected to detain between 1\,500 and 10\,000 people each\, signaling a massive expansion of detention capacity and the normalization of large-scale confinement in facilities built for storing things\, not imprisoning people. \n\n\n\nSome of the people confined in these warehouses might be our neighbors from here in Brockton. \n\n\n\nLocal action has already forced the cancellation of some of the proposed facilities. DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible event! \n\n\n\nWe have our peaceful Stand Outs weekly. Every Sunday from noon to 1:30pm we line the street around our Common and hold signs that are relevant to fighting for our Democracy. We sing songs and we do chants\, we are unified in our love for our country and we know it is important for us to stand up and be seen\, be heard and be with other Patriots that care about our country. We have copies of the Constitution and flags along with signs that can be used. We welcome all to stand tall with us. We also collect food and funds for our town’s Food Pantry. We are in this together and helping our community in this small way is an act of empathy\, understanding and kindness that we encourage. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
