DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible event! Our standout is comprised of a group of seniors who decided to do more than watch the news\, become upset\, anxious\, and feel powerless about what is happening in and to our country. We began a peaceful protest action to register our displeasure! We wanted to demonstrate in a way that empowered us and allowed us to take back some control and voice our concerns. Our motto is “WE MARCHED THEN\, WE MARCH NOW.” Since we range in age from the 70s to 90s\, we try to standout on Fridays from 1pm to 2pm. We standout weather permitting so we would not standout in the rain or snow. We are looking forward to warmer weather. These sites are expected to detain between 1\,500 and 10\,000 people each\, signaling a massive expansion of detention capacity and the normalization of large-scale confinement in facilities built for storing things\, not imprisoning people. \n\n\n\nSome of the people confined in these warehouses might be our neighbors from here in Brockton. \n\n\n\nLocal action has already forced the cancellation of some of the proposed facilities. DESCRIPTION:The next major national action isn’t another protest – it’s flexing our collective economic and non-cooperation muscle. Earlier this year\, Minnesota residents organized a Day of Truth and Action\, where teachers\, faith leaders\, workers\, students\, and business leaders refused work\, school\, and shopping on a single Friday in January to send a powerful message of resistance to the actions of the Trump administration and its corporate enablers. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP and and get updates\n\n\n\n\nHere in MA\, actions are being organized by unions and immigrant groups. The focus will be on building local power\, protecting our neighbors\, strengthening our capacity for noncooperation\, and defending our elections from sabotage. There are already events being planned for Boston\, including a rally on the Common at 4:30 PM. As more Boston actions are finalized\, they will be posted HERE.
