DESCRIPTION:Speechifying\, Shakespeare\, & Sea Shanties! Every week\, we stand on Burlington Mall Road with signs\, costumes and flags. We come out to show support for our immigrant neighbors\, express our shame at ICE\, and build community in opposition to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government. We are there to tell the world that there is a ICE CONCENTRATION CAMP just two blocks away.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are not there merely to make propaganda against ICE. We are there to make propaganda against fear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery car that honks in support as they pass is in a small way joining the Resistance. Many who honk may be expressing themselves against ICE terror for the first time. This breaks the ice\, and makes it easier for them to take the next steps. It helps them help others to overcome their fear. We are there to cause a ripple effect. To fight against the terror visited on immigrants\, we need to fight against our own internalized terror. While most major banks have cut ties with CoreCivic and The GEO Group\, Citizens Bank is deepening its financial support for these companies\, which are already holding more than half of the 70\,000 immigrants currently in ICE detention centers across the country. \n\n\n\nThe bank’s capital is supporting a deplorable ICE agenda that aims to fill detention centers with more than 100\,000 people by next year. Even as it publicly touts its commitment to “strengthening our communities\,” Citizens Bank has played a key role in helping The GEO Group and CoreCivic access more than $2.5 billion in financing\, some of it approved earlier this year. We offer a variety of actions to help you defend our democracy and support the progressive agenda. If you’re looking at how you can help strengthen our Democracy\, please join us! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPostcard writing is a community builder and best of all\, they have an impact! Postcards provide a personal connection to the voter and has been found to boost turnout by roughly 1-6%\, which can put a candidate in a close race over the top. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPOSTCARDS come 10 to a packet for a donation of $6 to help pay for postage. Cash please. We will provide a short script\, pens and markers. We are reaching out to register people to vote in Swing and Blue States. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOUR MISSION \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe focus on Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) efforts\, voting access\, and defending election integrity\, because we believe voter participation is the foundation to a healthy democracy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
