SUMMARY:Indivisible Maynard Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible Maynard Area event! \n\n\n\nWe meet the 2nd Thursday each month at the Maynard Firehouse to get informed and to take action. We alternate between trainings\, speakers\, and more traditional huddles but try to have some kind of action involved at each. Past actions included prepping for No Kings and other standouts\, folding zines about reporting ICE\, putting together whistle kits\, signing petitions and postcard writing. \n\n\n\nAt our Sept. 10 monthly meeting we will be joined by Jonathan Cohn\, the policy director of Progressive Mass. Jonathan will share insights about the upcoming midterm election and the ballot questions. We are fortunate to have Jonathan speak with us and we can use his knowledge to educate others. DESCRIPTION:Speechifying\, Shakespeare\, & Sea Shanties! Every week\, we stand on Burlington Mall Road with signs\, costumes and flags. We come out to show support for our immigrant neighbors\, express our shame at ICE\, and build community in opposition to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government. We are there to tell the world that there is a ICE CONCENTRATION CAMP just two blocks away.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are not there merely to make propaganda against ICE. We are there to make propaganda against fear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery car that honks in support as they pass is in a small way joining the Resistance. Many who honk may be expressing themselves against ICE terror for the first time. This breaks the ice\, and makes it easier for them to take the next steps. It helps them help others to overcome their fear. We are there to cause a ripple effect. To fight against the terror visited on immigrants\, we need to fight against our own internalized terror. We have nothing to fear. We are America\, fighting back.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you REGISTER by FRIDAY\, you will be notified of cancellations by email. SUMMARY:Patriots Standing Up for Democracy
DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible event! \n\n\n\nWe have our peaceful Stand Outs weekly. Every Sunday from noon to 1:30pm we line the street around our Common and hold signs that are relevant to fighting for our Democracy. We sing songs and we do chants\, we are unified in our love for our country and we know it is important for us to stand up and be seen\, be heard and be with other Patriots that care about our country. We have copies of the Constitution and flags along with signs that can be used. We welcome all to stand tall with us. We also collect food and funds for our town’s Food Pantry. We are in this together and helping our community in this small way is an act of empathy\, understanding and kindness that we encourage. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We are working on the Get Out The Vote Initiative\, sponsored by Postcards to Swing States. Years of their research has proven that their postcards are one of the most effective ways to help rally Democrats to vote. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe midterms will be coming soon and this is a great way to contribute to our cause. You can come write a few and even take a few home if you wish. This is a no-cost workshop\, however\, donations are greatly appreciated for stamps\, but certainly not mandatory.
