SUMMARY:Brookline Rally for Democracy\, March 2026
DESCRIPTION:Brookline Rally for Democracy: Every Saturday at 1:00 PM | Coolidge Corner \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin members of three Brookline pro-democracy groups — indivisible Activist Evenings\, Brookline Pax\, and Speak Out\, Seniors! — for our weekly rally at Coolidge Corner. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe gather to raise our voices and our signs in defense of democracy\, justice\, and decency — and to stand united against the abuses of the Trump administration and the forces that threaten our rights and freedoms. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe stand for: \n\n\n\n• Immigrant rights\, human rights\, and racial justice \n\n\n\n• Free speech\, the Constitution\, and the rule of law \n\n\n\n• Access to health and healthcare for all \n\n\n\n• Protection of our planet and the future we leave to the next generation \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe choose empathy over cruelty\, peace over violence\, and hope over fear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur rallies are peaceful\, spirited\, and uplifting — a chance to connect\, recharge\, and stand up for what matters. Bring your friends\, your voice\, and your sign (or borrow one of ours!). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll are welcome!  The rally is multi-generational and family-friendly; those using walkers or other mobility devices may use them to sit to participate. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the event of inclement weather\, we’ll each use our best judgment about whether to attend. We hope you’ll do the same!  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease join us\, one rally at a time.  We’ll continue for as long as it takes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates

You can get details about the rally at the Waltham District Court HERE. LUCE also has a petition to state officials that you can sign HERE.

SUMMARY:Standout for Democracy | Protest in Methuen
DESCRIPTION:This a local Indivisible event! Our standout is comprised of a group of seniors who decided to do more than watch the news\, become upset\, anxious\, and feel powerless about what is happening in and to our country. We began a peaceful protest action to register our displeasure! We wanted to demonstrate in a way that empowered us and allowed us to take back some control and voice our concerns. Our motto is “WE MARCHED THEN\, WE MARCH NOW.” Since we range in age from the 70s to 90s\, we try to standout on Fridays from 1pm to 2pm. We standout weather permitting so we would not standout in the rain or snow. We are looking forward to warmer weather. We are glad to be a part of Greater Methuen Indivisible. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Resistance Book Club
DESCRIPTION:Our current presidential administration seems intent on erasing critical aspects of American history\, both historic injustice\, and the struggles for freedom and democracy that are parts of our past. Led by community member and friend of the store Bob Van Meter\, the Resistance Book Club will read works that tell important parts of that history.   \n\n\n\nThe book club will meet on the third Friday of the month at 10:30 AM here at the store. The first meeting will be on Friday\, February 20th\, and the book pick will be The Second Founding by Eric Foner. It’s a concise history of the adoption of the 13th\, 14th\, and 15th Amendments\, which Foner argues should be seen as a second founding of the nation.

SUMMARY:From Moscow to MA: Reflections on Ordinary People Standing Up to Power
DESCRIPTION:Please join True North Action Alliance Boston\, the newest Indivisible group in the Boston community\, for our inaugural event welcoming Rebecca Riccio of the Boston Trainers Collective! \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for exact address\n\n\n\n\nRebecca Riccio is well known to many people in greater Boston as a social change educator\, social justice activist\, and safety lead and trainer for several of the city’s largest street actions since 2018. Her own training in the work of resistance began decades ago when she was a student in Moscow during the Cold War. Around the kitchen tables of political\, religious\, and artistic dissidents\, she learned how ordinary people can find the courage to stand up to power through the strength of their convictions\, communities\, and appreciation for the simple joys of everyday life. Rebecca will discuss how she taps into the wisdom shared in those Russian kitchens decades ago to make sense of what is happening in the U.S. today and help others find courage in challenging times. \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:MA voters approved a legislative audit. What's blocking it?
DESCRIPTION:In 2024\, Massachusetts voters approved a ballot question that affirmed that the State Auditor has the right to audit the legislature. The ballot question won every town and city in Massachusetts\, passing with 72% of the vote statewide. Since becoming Massachusetts state law\, the question has instead become a conflict between political insiders. Legislative leaders continue to claim that the ballot question is unconstitutional. The State Auditor Diana DiZoglio has sought to bring the question to court to allow her office to proceed with the audit. The state’s Attorney General Andrea Campbell\, who must represent constitutional officers\, has neglected to take a position on the audit\, leaving the question in legal limbo.  \n\n\n\nMeanwhile\, members of the public are left wondering: what happened to the audit we voted for?  \n\n\n\n\nGet Zoom Link\n\n\n\n\nJoin Act on Mass on March 19th for a webinar to investigate this question. Where do the various sides stand on the audit? What is the legal precedent here? We will be joined by former appellate lawyer and federal and state prosecuter Jeanne Kempthorne.  \n\n\n\nJeanne Kempthorne is a retired attorney and mediator. In her 40-year legal career\, she practiced as a civil litigator at the firm Hill & Barlow before joining the US Attorney’s Office as a federal prosecutor where she served in several roles\, including chief of the public corruption unit. After her federal service\, she practiced in the areas of criminal defense and habeas corpus\, and served as a State Ethics commissioner\, chief of appeals and general counsel for the Berkshire District Attorney’s  Office\, and a special assistant district attorney in the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office’s conviction integrity unit. A longtime good-government activist\, Kempthorne co-authored The Massachusetts Legislature: Democracy in Decline (2021) and the 2025 update Democracy in Decline: Denial and Delay. In 2025\, she was invited to testify before the State Senate subcommittee on the constitutionality of the law clarifying that the State Auditor has the power to audit the legislature.
