DESCRIPTION:Brookline Rally for Democracy \n\n\n\nEvery Saturday at 1:00 PM | Coolidge Corner \n\n\n\nJoin members of three Brookline pro-democracy groups — indivisible Activist Evenings\, Brookline Pax\, and Speak Out\, Seniors! — for our weekly rally at Coolidge Corner. \n\n\n\nWe gather to raise our voices and our signs in defense of democracy\, justice\, and decency — and to stand united against the abuses of the Trump administration and the forces that threaten our rights and freedoms. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nWe stand for: \n\n\n\n• Immigrant rights\, human rights\, and racial justice \n\n\n\n• Free speech\, the Constitution\, and the rule of law \n\n\n\n• Access to health and healthcare for all \n\n\n\n• Protection of our planet and the future we leave to the next generation \n\n\n\nWe choose empathy over cruelty\, peace over violence\, and hope over fear. \n\n\n\nOur rallies are peaceful\, spirited\, and uplifting — a chance to connect\, recharge\, and stand up for what matters. Bring your friends\, your voice\, and your sign (or borrow one of ours!). \n\n\n\nAll are welcome!  The rally is multi-generational and family-friendly; those using walkers or other mobility devices may use them to sit to participate. \n\n\n\nIn the event of inclement weather\, we’ll each use our best judgment about whether to attend. We hope you’ll do the same! \n\n\n\nPlease join us\, one rally at a time.  We’ll continue for as long as it takes.

SUMMARY:Urgent Protest Against Iran War
DESCRIPTION:President Trump has launched a regime change war on Iran\, without approval from Congress\, while negotiations are going on. \n\n\n\nRally today\, Saturday\, Feb 28\, at Park Street\, Boston\, 1pm to denounce this criminal agression by our government and demand an immediate end to the conflict. \n\n\n\nTrump’s unprovoked\, illegal attack on Iran is an act of war that threatens to cause unthinkable death and destruction. But the people of this country reject another endless war and will take to the streets now and make our voices heard. \n\n\n\nIran has not attacked the United States. The government has been engaged in diplomatic negotiations up to the very last moment\, and has again and again insisted that it has no intention of developing a nuclear weapons program (which Trump claims to have “obliterated” last year anyway). Trump promised to bring peace to the world while he was running for office\, but he has done nothing but left a trail of devastation the world over. Rather than making executives at oil companies and weapons manufacturers richer\, our tax dollars should be used to meet people’s needs. \n\n\n\nNational Iranian American Council\, Jewish Voice for Peace Boston\, Party for Socialism and Liberation\, Palestinian Youth Movement\, MAPA\, Boston Coalition for Palestine\, Northshore for Palestine\, Muslim Justice League\, Palestine House of New England

SUMMARY:Community Resilience\, Readiness and Resistance Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Building our capacity for resilience is an important component of the community organizing work we’re doing here in eastern Massachusetts. The current administration is going to be in power at least through January 2029. That is 30+ more months. They have only been in power for 12 months so far\, which means that we are only about 20% of the way through this presidential term. Figuring out ways to stay engaged will be critical because we are all needed – particularly as we become more comfortable with being engaged in resistance activity and as we move into noncooperation activities. We can each find our own ways of making this work sustainable but it will take some openness to learning\, experimentation\, and practice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the face of increasing authoritarianism\, this workshop will provide a framework for cultivating readiness and resilience as foundations for long-term resistance\, personal and collective care\, and preparedness for other challenges that lie ahead. Participants will leave with concrete steps for building personal\, household\, community\, and organizational resilience and strengthening our movement to build a democracy that works for everyone. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFounded by Rebecca Riccio\, the BTC is a group of volunteer activists and organizers associated with a variety of racial and social justice-oriented organizations in Greater Boston.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$10 Donation Suggested to support BTC and provide afternoon snacks!! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nParking: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHighland Ave & Surrounding Streets: 2-hour visitor parking with meters. Note: Somerville residents permits take priority on many streets \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMunicipal Lots: Grove Street Lot A (Rite Aid Lot) at Grove St. & Highland Ave and Grove Street Lot B between Highland Ave and Elm St. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. SUMMARY:Talk to Our Neighbors About ICE | Phone Bank with SURJ!
DESCRIPTION:Right now is the time to intervene. To step up. To move our people. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs the Trump Administration continues to deploy violent ICE agents to our nation’s cities\, we remain clear and centered on the following truths: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhite working class Americans have so much to gain by standing in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors.\n\n\n\nTrump’s aggressive and violent deployment of ICE is causing many white working class communities to re-evaluate their views and beliefs on immigration.\n\n\n\nListening-forward conversations that support people to reflect on their values\, feelings and experiences can shift their attitudes\, perspective and behavior.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThat’s why we’re channeling these truths into a powerful action that you can take with us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin SURJ to talk to key white working class voters about their feelings on Trump’s immigration policies and deployment of ICE in the key congressional districts that will determine control of the House in the 2026 elections. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTogether\, we can move the needle and build power. No prior experience needed – we’ll provide all the resources\, training and support you need to phone bank with us to have these critical conversations at a critical juncture for shaping public opinion and our society’s commonsense beliefs around immigration policy \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for Details

SUMMARY:Postcard Party
DESCRIPTION:Send hand-written postcards to voters in states that will play a key role in taking back Congress and in electing leaders who will fight back against the current authoritarian regime. Postcards educate voters\, urge them to register to vote\, and urge them to vote for specific candidates in special elections\, primaries\, and the November 2026 mid-term elections. Hand-written postcards have been proven in multiple studies to boost turnout enough to swing elections. Each packet of 15 postcards has everything you need\, and costs $10 to cover stamps and cards for those who can afford it. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nIt’s more fun to write together\, but if you can’t stay\, you can also stop by and pick up postcards to write at home.

SUMMARY:Burma Shave Standouts - Arlington
DESCRIPTION:The third No Kings protest is scheduled for March 28. Events are being planned throughout the U.S. and in many foreign countries to demand that Trump and the Republican-led Congress stop their unconstitutional power grab and the cruel destruction of our federal government. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo publicize the No Kings protests\, we plan to hold signs from 4:30 to 5:30 pm on three dates in March at high visibility locations in Arlington. Signs will be provided. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe signs are designed after the World War 2 era poem which begins “First they came for the Communists\, and I did not speak out….”  We will replace “Communists” with “immigrants”\, etc. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are looking for people who are available to pick up a sign by 4:15 and hold it at a designated location for the full hour\, 4:30-5:30 pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease RSVP for 1\, 2 or all 3 dates. The location for each standout and other important details will be sent closer to the date. You will be notified if the standout needs to be rescheduled or cancelled due to bad weather. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Bear Witness- Protest and Food Drive Wednesdays at ICE
DESCRIPTION:“We invite you to stand in solidarity outside the ICE Enforcement & Removal Operations Office in Burlington every Wednesday from 11am-1pm. We’re grateful to those who have previously joined us at this facility\, and we hope that more will consider attending. Together\, we can show love & support for immigrants\, express our shame at ICE\, and bear witness to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government.”Schedule11:00-11:30\, Welcome chat; orientation for new folks; sign-making for those who need them11:30-12:30\, Stand (or sit) with signs12:30-1:00\, Short walk along the sidewalk on District AveThe ICE building in Burlington is the detention and enforcement office for New England. Immigrants must come here for appointments. The standouts are peaceful and offer support for those who must show up here. Signs expressing support for immigrants are welcome. \n\n\n\n\nMore Info & Email Updates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs far as we know\, the Mall is continuing to restrict parking to mall shoppers only. We continue to invite you to be creative while we work on a solution to this problem. If you scroll down further\, there are some suggested alternative parking possibilities. \n\n\n\n\n\nThere was a small group of counter-protesters again at the Saturday vigil\, and we may expect to see counter-protesters more regularly now. The important thing is to not engage with counter-protesters. Please ignore them. We will continue to peacefully exercise our first amendment rights. \n\n\n\nA weather reminder for our gatherings during the winter season — by default\, we will plan to gather\, and ask people to use their own judgment about what conditions are safe for them. Please do be safe. If Burlington schools close due to weather\, we will cancel the usual 11am-1pm public gathering and the organizing team will make some other arrangement to safely maintain the continuity of our vigil for that day that does not require the general public. \n\n\n\nAs usual\, this gathering outside ICE is a very targeted action; it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. We all care about many issues\, but each Wednesday we come together across differences. Regardless of your views on any other political or social issues\, if you support immigrants and their constitutional rights and are committed to nonviolence you are welcome to join us. We have a stash of signs and small U.S. flags that have been donated\, and you’re welcome to bring your own signs and U.S. flags if you have them. \n\n\n\nHere are some parking options that have been suggested\, while we explore a resolution with the mall or other options: \n\n\n\n\nFor those looking to switch to public transportation\, one option is the 350 Bus. This runs from Alewife to Burlington Mall Rd. You can park or bike to the Alewife T stop\, and the bus leaves Alewife at 10:46am and arrives at District Ave. at 11:15am.\n\n\n\nAlternatively\, you can drive to Burlington and park at Simonds Park\, at Rev. Andrew’s United Church of Christ (6 Lexington St. Burlington\, MA)\, or at Rabbi Abramson’s Temple Shalom Emeth\, 16 Lexington St.\,and walk to the 350 bus stop at the intersection of Cambridge St. and Bedford St. That bus leaves at 11:09am and arrives at 11:17am. If you’d like to arrive before 11:00am\, there’s a bus that leaves an hour earlier at 10:09am.\n\n\n\nYou can park at Wegmans. 53 Third Avenue. Burlington\, MA 01803. The Lowell LRTA #14 bus goes by there and stops at Lexington and Mall Rd. That bus is free.\n\n\n\n\nBearing Witness attendees Tina & Jay continue to collect food pantry donations to help local immigrant families. You can drop off unopened food/health/household items by the tree.
