SUMMARY:De-Ice Citizens Bank- Protest at Annual Shareholder Meeting
DESCRIPTION:On April 23\, Citizens Bank will be holding their Annual Shareholder Meeting at its headquarters in Providence\, RI. In response\, a coalition of progressive organizations from the surrounding area will be holding a peaceful standout that we are calling “The People’s Shareholder Meeting to De-ICE Citizens Bank” outside of the headquarters building. \n\n\n\nWe will hold a press conference\, rally the people\, sing and chant our resistance\, educate the general public\, and create artivism to get Citizens Bank De-ICE’d! \n\n\n\nCitizens Bank publicly presents itself as a community-centered institution committed to social responsibility. Yet the bank continues to maintain key financial relationships with CoreCivic and The GEO Group: two notorious\, for-profit\, prison corporations that build and operate immigration detention facilities for ICE\, provide transportation services to ICE\, and operate prisons for mass incarceration. \n\n\n\nFor more information about Citizens Bank’s relationship to the private prison system\, go to www.De-ICECitizensBank.org. You can also contact the De-ICE Coalition at de.ICE.CitizensBank@gmail.com. \n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Coalition events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. Indivisible has a great safety and security resource you can review before the event: https://indivisi.org/safety. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nWear weather appropriate clothing\, bring water and a snack. \n\n\n\nSign Ideas: Cages Aren’t Communities De-ICE Citizens Bank Citizens Bank: Invest in Communities\, Not Cages End Mass Incarceration Say NO to CoreCivic and The GEO Group No Banks for Cages \n\n\n\nThings to note: Parking is either on-street metered or paid parking garages/lots. There are numerous in the area. Public restrooms are located inside the Providence Train Station which is a block north from the standout. \n\n\n\nEditor’s Note: We don’t usually promote events outside of Massachusetts\, however\, this important protest is just about an hour outside of Boston.

SUMMARY:Citizen Bank Protests
DESCRIPTION:Citizens Bank is financing ICE detention companies. \n\n\n\nCitizens Bank talks a lot about valuing diversity and building strong communities. What they don’t talk about: they’re helping for-profit prison companies get the cash they need to lock more people away in ICE detention. \n\n\n\nYou’ve heard the stories that come out of the facilities run by CoreCivic and The GEO Group. 911 dispatchers flooded with calls. Severe medical neglect. Children locked up for months on end. But even as the heartbreaking stories pour out of ICE detention centers\, Citizens Bank keeps pouring money into them.  \n\n\n\n\nDe-Ice Citizen’s Bank\n\n\n\nWho are Geo Group and Core Civic?\n\n\n\n\n\nSend a Letter to Citizen’s Bank\n\n\n\n\nCitizens Bank has dodged accountability for their important role in supporting inhumane ICE detention. Until now. \n\n\n\n\nActon | 10:30 AM-12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nArlington |  11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nBoston (Jamaica Plain) | 11:00- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nBrockton |  11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nBrookline |  11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nBurlington | 12 Noon – 1:00 PM\n\n\n\n\n\nCambridge Central  Square | 10:30 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nCambridge Harvard Square | 11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nConcord | 11::00 AM- 1:00 PM\n\n\n\n\n\nFoxborough | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nHolyoke | 11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nLexington | 11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nMedfield | 10:30 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nMedford | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nNorthampton | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon \n\n\n\n\n\nSommerville (Davis Square) | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nSpringfield | 11:00 AM- 12 Noon\n\n\n\n\n\nStow | 11:00 AM – 12 Noon
