SUMMARY:JUSTICE INTERRUPTED: An Immigration Judge’s view of the Courts and the Path to Reform
DESCRIPTION:IMC Immigration Justice Action Team Virtual Forum\n\n\n\nWed\, Aug 12\, 2026\, 7 pm – 8:30 pm EST\, via Zoom \n\n\n\nJoin the IMC Immigration Justice Action Team (IJAT) for our monthly Virtual Public Forum. Every 2nd Wednesday of the month\, from 7 pm – 8:30 pm EST\, IJAT hosts a Virtual Public Forum. Our monthly forums highlight organizations\, campaigns\, and practical actions that help build a more just and welcoming Massachusetts. We hope you’ll join us for this important conversation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us to hear an insider’s account of how political interference is reshaping the immigration courts—and what reforms are needed to restore judicial independence and due process.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJudge George D. Pappas is an immigration attorney (Boston\, MA & Asheville\, NC)\, former immigration judge\, and son of Greek immigrants. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBefore joining the bench\, Judge Pappas spent approximately 20 years representing people in asylum\, removal\, citizenship\, and other immigration matters\, while also providing pro bono legal assistance through refugee- and immigrant-serving organizations. He served in the Boston and Chelmsford Immigration Courts from 2023 until his termination in July 2025. Pappas has since sued the Department of Justice\, alleging that his termination was motivated by unlawful discrimination and by his longstanding associations with immigrant-rights organizations—claims the government has not yet had adjudicated against it. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDrawing on his experience as both an advocate and a judge\, Pappas has become an outspoken critic of the immigration court system. He argues that because immigration courts are housed within the Department of Justice rather than an independent judiciary\, judges remain vulnerable to political pressure\, dismissal\, and directives that can undermine meaningful hearings and due-process protections. He has warned that the courts are increasingly being treated as instruments of deportation policy rather than independent forums for deciding individual cases\, and he advocates removing them from executive-branch control to create a genuinely independent immigration judiciary. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImmigration Justice Action Team (IJAT)\, Indivisible Mass Coalition\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIndivisible Mass Coalition (IMC) is a statewide organization of volunteers\, is to provide resources\, support and services to the diverse Indivisible members and groups to strengthen constituent power in Massachusetts and improve democracy. Find more about what Indivisible Mass Coalition is doing by visiting indivisible-ma.org. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe IMC Immigration Justice Action Team serves as a statewide coordination and amplification hub within Indivisible Mass Coalition (IMC)\, supporting high-impact immigrant justice campaigns and actions that cross local group and coalition lines. We bring together Indivisible groups\, immigration justice organizations\, and the IMC Racial Justice Action Team to support and amplify efforts that protect our immigrant neighbors and communities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nQuestions?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact us at immigration-justice-action-team@indivisible-ma.org. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Link \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible and coalition partner events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Statewide Call: Maximizing the Impact of Election Donations
DESCRIPTION:Taking action to empower voters and get out the vote are essential to winning elections. The IMC statewide call on July 28 offers additional tools for progressive activists to help win victories in 2026. \n\n\n\nLearn how to maximize the impact of your donations by making sure your dollars are going to viable candidates and successful voter-empowerment groups. Our allies Force Multiplier\, the Movement Voter Project\, and Focus for Democracy will share their insights and informed strategies for picking worthwhile candidates and grassroots organizations to fund. SUMMARY:One Million Rising - Courage Collectives Training
DESCRIPTION:After the Joy and Power of No Kings Day\, What’s Next?As Leah Greenberg says in this New Republic interview\, “Protests are tactics\, not strategy.” They serve an important function to achieve our goals\, but in order to be successful they must be just one of many tactics employed. So what’s next is all about strategy — and what you can do — not what Indivisible\, or Dems\, or any other organization can do to save us! \n\n\n\nNational Indivisible has been training activists since 2017\, and with the stakes higher than ever\, Indivisble launched One Million Rising this past summer. What’s next starts with you and ends with your sustained participation. What’s next is not reaching a magical number at a future protest. What’s next may not be comfortable or easy\, but it’s not rocket science either. \n\n\n\nUsing the research and training of One Million Rising\, it’s time for each of us to become our own organizer. It’s do-it-yourself activism — self-directed planning and driving your own campaign of resistance rooted in your own experiences. See the recording of Indivisible’s call for Courage Collectives HERE. \n\n\n\nThen\, sign up for an IMC training call to learn how. The trainings will review the basics of One Million Rising and provide activists of all experience levels with a framework to plan their own pillars-based resistance campaigns.  \n\n\n\n\nGet Zoom Link for 11/9\n\n\n\nGet Zoom Link for 11/10

SUMMARY:IMC Statewide Call on the Economy — A Winning Issue
DESCRIPTION:When we talk about the U.S. economy\, we win\, because the Trump administration has badly mishandled the decent economy inherited from President Joe Biden. \n\n\n\nOur goal for the next statewide call is for you to have more productive conversations when speaking with Americans concerned about our economy and our future. We are privileged to have the opportunity to discuss economic issues with Tim Cheston\, who has an extensive background in international economics\, at our statewide call on Tuesday\, October 28\, at 7 PM. \n\n\n\nMr. Cheston has spent his career in international economics and development working on a wide variety of projects including social protection\, labor projects\, health services\, and microfinance. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Center for International Development’s Growth Lab at the Harvard Kennedy School. He is speaking with us based on his deep understanding of international economic issues\, not as representative of the Center. \n\n\n\nWhen you sign up\, please use the questions field to ask your questions and also indicate your level of understanding of economics\, so Mr. Cheston can tailor his opening remarks. \n\n\n\n\nGet Zoom Link

SUMMARY:NO KINGS Boston: Wicked Pissed\, Wicked Loud and Wicked United
DESCRIPTION:We’re wicked pissed. Wicked loud. Wicked united. \n\n\n\nJoin us Saturday\, October 18\, as we take to the Parade Grounds of Boston Common! \n\n\n\nWe’re standing together against the abuses of power\, cruelty\, and corruption of this Regime and saying with one voice — wicked loud —: “America has No Kings!” \n\n\n\nBoston\, we can’t stand by. We won’t back down. We will be at the Parade Grounds of Boston Common (Beacon & Charles St)\, a historic ground for resistance and assembly\, we will show what organized\, peaceful\, nonviolent people power looks like. \n\n\n\nPeaceful? Absolutely. Passive? Never. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for Updates\n\n\n\nDonate\n\n\n\n\nJoin the ACLU of Massachusetts\, Indivisible Mass Coalition\, Mass 50501\, and partners from across the pro-democracy and pro-worker movement as we rise together. This is not a typical rally: learn how to get involved locally at our action tables\, participate in creative resistance and enjoy entertainment on our main stage. \n\n\n\nBoston is the birthplace of the American Revolution. No Kings is about defending that legacy — and stopping tyranny and authoritarianism in its tracks. This country doesn’t belong to strongmen. It belongs to us\, the people. 💪 The power is in our hands.  \n\n\n\nFreedom isn’t free — neither are protests. Please help us raise funds for this event by donating here. \n\n\n\nOUR CALLS TO ACTION: \n\n\n\n\nProtect our immigrant neighbors who are being profiled\, threatened\, and kidnapped. Join a community ICE watch group so agents know we are watching them\, volunteer to assist with vital mutual aid\, bond and legal needs\, and stand out in solidarity at ICE offices. More information from organizations\, including LUCE\, MIRA\, BIJAN\, and Bearing Witness @ ICE in Burlington.\n\n\n\nFight with your dollars: Hit them where it hurts by boycotting corporations and billionaires that are doing Trump’s bidding. Don’t check out at the checkout; patriotic dissent happens everywhere! \n\n\n\nHold your Reps accountable: Keep the pressure on and keep calling them out. Use the 5Calls app. Email and show up at their offices. If they can’t fix this\, we’ll find others who will.\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally permitted\, should not be brought to events.
