The Texas House Democrats are denying quorum to stop the Trump takeover of Texas and block his attempt to rig the 2026 midterm elections. But Trump isn’t stopping in Texas. He’s targeting Missouri, Ohio, Florida, and every state he can twist to help him steal Congress next year. States like California and New York are starting to fight back.
Let’s be clear: this fight started in Texas, but it doesn’t end there. This isn’t just about redistricting or one state’s politics. It’s about the future of our democracy. Trump is terrified of the American people. He knows he can’t win on his ideas, so he’s trying to take Congress by hook or by crook–and he’s doing it by silencing the voices of communities of color. We’re not going to let that happen.
That’s why we’re organizing a National Day of Action, on Saturday, August 16, to fight back against the Trump takeover of our country.
Texas will lead with an anchor rally at the Capitol in Austin. Across the country, we’re asking people to show up at their state houses, city halls, or community spaces and make it clear — we see what Trump is doing, and we won’t stand for it.
Please note: A core principle behind our Fight the Trump Takeover actions is a commitment to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
The owner of the Burlington ICE facility and Cafe Escadrille has not cooperated with the town to allow inspections.
Neither the owner nor ICE have responded to Burlington’s request for an inspection. Sometimes there is not even enough room to lie down to sleep on the cement floors. Food if it comes is sporadic and unappealing. People are not supposed to be detained in this facility. A fancy dress protest draws attention to the lack of due process and inhumane conditions.
Sign up for an hour shift: You will have friendly company: we’re scheduling at least 3 volunteers for each one-hour shift. Please wear a bright-colored shirt: You will stand out to the people below and they will be much more likely to see you waving to them! Please be prompt for the start of your shift. Banners and flags for the standout will be set up on the overpass, and we don’t want to leave them unattended, for even a short time. You’re welcome to bring your own signs but they aren’t necessary. (Hand-held signs aren’t visible enough to be seen by the people below but are visible to the people traveling on the Overpass.)

This is a local Indivisible event, and part of Greater Assabet Indivisible Network’s (GAIN’s) monthly speaker series. Come hear about The Psychology of the Trump Cult with Rev. Steve Wilson on Saturday, September 6th from 4-6pm. In this lecture and discussion, we will explore the mind(s) of those who came to support this Administration, including the psychology of the human brain, strategize ways, and ideally provide simple tools that might be helpful in undoing the conspiratorial thinking that led to this sad place in our nation’s history.
Our speaker has been a Unitarian Universalist Minister for 25 years, and has worked as both a paid employee and unpaid volunteer in various progressive campaigns. Steve was the MC for the No Kings Worcester Rally on June 14th, has worked as a popular educator regarding economic inequality, raised money for environmental groups, and worked with people with cognitive and mental health issues. He holds a Master’s degree from Boston University’s School of Theology, focused on social justice.

Join us for our August meeting at the Thomas Crane Library Community Room (ground floor) or via Zoom. Do you find phone banking intimidating? Have you been confused about how to take part in virtual phone banking sessions? We’ll be discussing phone banking via virtual sessions with a special guest speaker from Swing Blue Alliance. We’ll be answer questions you might have about virtual phone banking, showing examples of the different virtual phone banking programs campaigns may use, and what current campaigns you can take part in. We’ll also be providing troubleshooting for common issues. If you’re attending in-person, we recommend bringing along whatever tablet or laptop computer you use at home.
If you need to take part virtually, we will be emailing all registered attendees with the Zoom registration.

Trump is trying to steal the 2026 election by rigging the system and changing electoral maps. He started in Texas, but he won’t stop there. We are fighting back.
We will raise awareness by holding banners over route 24 in Brockton, MA. Banners provided — enthusiastic volunteers needed!

We will be gathering to join hands in solidarity against the multiple actions of the Trump administration, and literally make a human chain. This will be followed by a moment of silence. It is inspired by the “Hands Across High” campaign in Colombus, OH.
Many of us come, each with our own reasons. Some are opposed most by the cuts to Medicaid, others by the push for deportations, or the camps built to house detainees. Still others oppose the elimination of research or ALL of the myriad of other actions of the current regime. This event gives us all a chance to join together in solidarity, and support each other, no matter our motivation.
At 6:00 pm we will have a Standout Rally, so bring your signs (we’ll provide one if you don’t have one), and get ready to get honked at! At 7:00 pm the “HANDS ACROSS RILEY” begins. We welcome all of you to join us.
