This a local Indivisible event! This is a weekly Stand Out! to help build community and tie in to National Actions such as supporting people standing up in Washington, D.C., Texas and other locations. We work to bring people together around voting rights, education, and community support for all.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
In this training session, you’ll learn how to cross the great divide between all of us regular humans and “The Media.” Translation: How to write an eye-catching headline for your upcoming event, project, or campaign and line up compelling details. This is called a “pitch.”
We’ll also talk about where exactly to send this winning pitch, the magic of timing, & how to take full advantage of victory if you land in print or on the air.
(1) We are working with Down Home NC to support municipal candidates in critical counties. These districts have Assembly seats that will be flippable or holding Blue in 2026. Ground work begins now to protect the governor’s veto power and stop future GOP gerrymandering.
(2) We are working with the Mecklenburg Dems -helping them to build precinct power for the Municipal elections, and helping to build the Dem base in 2026.

Pennsylvania’s retention elections to renew Supreme Court justices’ 10-year terms are normally quiet and uneventful. Not this year.
Republican operatives are mobilizing voters to unseat three Democratic justices who are up for renewal and change the majority from “D” to “R.” (PA elects justices for 10-year terms in partisan elections, and terms are renewed through “Yes/No” votes.)

Lehigh County Democratic Committee, MA Flip PA, and Swing Blue Alliance are hosting a Zoom Fundraiser on Wednesday, August 27, 7-8 ET,to help save the Democratic majority and counter the MAGA billionaires spending millions to buy the court. We need to raise $34,000 for digital billboards on major highways in Lehigh County and Allentown, Pennsylvania; run ads on a Spanish language radio station in Allentown; and hold a weekly phone bank to encourage voters to vote “Yes!” to retain these Democratic Justices.
The stakes are high! The Supreme Court makes decisions on issues like redistricting, abortion access, environmental protection, and working conditions. Join comedian Richard Kind (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mad About You, A Serious Man), Conor Lamb, a former Pennsylvania US Representative, and Malcolm Kenyatta, State Representative from Philadelphia and National Democratic Committee Vice Chair, and others, for an evening to rally support and stop Republicans from taking over the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Whether you’re brand new to nonviolent direct action or just want to brush up on your skills, this session will cover both NVDA essentials and marshal techniques — open to anyone ready to learn and support actions in any role.
We’ll cover: What is NVDA [Non-Violent Direct Action] What a marshal is and why they matter How to cork intersections and control flow Leapfrogging techniques to support mobile protests/marches De-escalation tips and safety awareness Signal App 101 for secure group communication How to support accessibility and inclusion on the ground
And most importantly — how to keep each other safe while standing up for justice
This training will be interactive, and discussion based. You’ll leave with real tactics, scripts, and tools you can use right away. We’ll also go over what to do in case of police presence, counter-protesters, or emergencies.
No prior experience is required — just bring your curiosity, your questions, and your commitment to keeping our community strong. You are also not required to Marshal at any time by attending this event, we encourage anyone and everyone to attend it simply to grow their skills and feel more comfortable during actions.
