Join the Newburyport Democratic City Committee and our pro-Democracy friends for a watch party of the “State of the Swamp,” a response to the State of the Union address being held on Tuesday, February 24th.
We will gather at Metzys Cantina starting at 6:30 PM to order food and get settled in. The “State of the Swamp” is from 7-9 PM and Metzys has been generous enough to stay open late so we can socialize for as long as we want.
All we ask that you plan to order food and drink.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED and the venue can seat 50 people, so please make sure to reserve your spot. Contact ndcc@newburyportdems. com for more information.

Join us for our second meeting. We will be making plans for the next No KINGS event on March 28th 2026
This a local Indivisible event!
Here is where you’ll describe your local event. Please be specific about important details and include anything a first time attendee, or new group member, might find helpful!

Signs of Fascism is a unique visibility event where specific examples on signs can help get through to people what’s being lost. For example “Ignoring Due Process”, “Controlling Media”. Indivisible in Melrose Wakefield and Beyond has a set of 24 different signs – come hold one with us!

Wednesday, January 7th, an American citizen was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.
A broad coalition of groups across the country is calling for a coordinated Ice Out For Good Weekend of Actions until further notice to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions.
Bring Flags 🇺🇸🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️, your friends, your families, your students, your classmates, your teachers and anyone else you know.

Bring your energy, your voice, and a sign that speaks your truth as you stand with other democracy defenders to show that hate and fear have no home in our city and country! Extra signs are available. This is a peaceful, family-oriented gathering. All are welcome!

Our communities are being terrorized by masked federal agents. They’re teargassing babies, kidnapping our neighbors, shooting clergy in the face with chemical projectiles, and killing innocent people.
We have an opportunity to rein in ICE and Border Patrol at the federal level. Congress is currently negotiating funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which includes ICE and Border Patrol. We are demanding our Members of Congress write a bill that stops the violence in our communities and holds ICE and Border Patrol agents accountable. This is our opportunity to put significant restrictions on these agencies and ensure they don’t get a single penny more to enable their brutality.
Join us every Tuesday at 1 p.m. EST while DHS funding is being negotiated to engage voters in key states and encourage them to call their Members of Congress and tell them to hold the line and demand that ICE’s terror tactics be stopped for good.
With the prediction of ice and snow, we are changing our in-person event to a cozy Zoom. Pajamas suggested, but not required. We’ll talk about our Next Steps initiative for No Kings Day, and learn about the new Protect Act and how to advocate for quick(er) action in the MA State House. We’ll also talk about the upcoming local and state elections.
A new protest group named “No Fear Street Theater” will be hosting ICE protests near the Burlington ICE Office on Saturdays! Everyone is welcome! More info here
