Strategic Thinking: Key Races Democrats Must Win in November

June 15 @ 7:00 pm 8:30 pm EDT

Democrats are still favored to flip the House, despite the Callais and Virginia Supreme Court Decisions, as will be explained. Thereafter, the key competitive districts that—if won—will allow Democrats to flip the House will be discussed. Finally, though less likely, flipping the Senate may be possible; plus, it is essential that Democrats make progress in 2026 in order to capture the Senate in 2028.

Ed Loechler is a co-founder and data cruncher for Force Multiplier. He’ll walk us through how he uses numbers to choose races where time and money can be invested wisely.

Rise Up, Sing Out-Find One Near You

June 14 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm EDT

Trump will be marking his birthday once again with made-for-tv spectacle. This time, instead of emulating dictators with a military parade, he’ll be playing Roman emperor with a cage match for his amusement at the White House.

The Committee for the First Amendment, with enthusiastic support from the No Kings Coalition, will be counterprogramming his little stunt with a nationally livestreamed concert featuring prominent activists and musicians.

But ours won’t be mere spectacle. We’re inviting folks to host house parties around the country to build local power around anti-authoritarian defiance. Lots of Indivisible groups already have events planned, but you don’t need to be a group leader to invite a few friends over and use our organizing toolkit to plan local actions.

And for those who tune in on their own, we’ll be offering calls to action around voting, election protection, and defense of our First Amendment rights.

You can find more info at the Rise Up and Sing Out website.

Note: Many of these events are taking place in private homes. If you don’t see one near you, reach out to your local Indivisible.

Show up for our students, schools, and colleges

June 2 @ 9:30 am 11:30 am EDT

PROTEST CANCELLED. LINDA NOT SHOWING UP. Join the Massachusetts Education Justice Alliance tomorrow in Waltham to let Linda McMahon know that Massachusetts won’t let the Trump administration dismantle public education!

McMahon is threatening our students and schools by:

  • Pushing a privatization scheme on preK-12 schools that requires states to opt in to a new tax credit voucher program. These vouchers send our tax money to private institutions instead of strengthening the schools that serve all kids.
  • Forcing a right-wing agenda on higher education by threatening to strip colleges and universities of federal accreditation necessary to be eligible for providing financial aid to students.

Show up for our students, schools, and colleges on Tuesday! Join us to protest these destructive tactics!

Time: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 2

Location: outside Lumen Academy, 175 Main St., Waltham.

Bring your signs!!!

*Note: Street parking is your best option in the area, so plan accordingly.

Justice 4 All Thursdays

June 4 @ 11:00 am 1:00 pm EDT

Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Regardless of any other political views, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently.

Our friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays.

Schedule

11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements
11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave
12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd.

Your generosity is always appreciated. Thank you!

Weather

All attendees are ultimately responsible for making their own decisions about travel.  The organizers are going to use the following guidelines to modify or cancel events in advance.  A sudden change in conditions just before or during events, such as a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning, could happen and organizers will do their best to communicate any decisions appropriately.

No change to event:
Normal to heavy Rain
Windy, but no warnings
Light snow on ground, but not falling

Cancel:
Burlington schools cancelled
Temp/Wind Chill < 20F
Storm advisory with snow or high wind predicted
Freezing rain falling or predicted

Shorten event in advance, limit to standout:
Temp/Wind Chill < 30F
Temp Ok, but ground wet
Deep snow in grassy area, sidewalks clear

What happens at this ICE office?

ICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.”

What to expect at Justice 4 All?

We are committed to nonviolence, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot, and we do not block traffic on District Ave.

Signs

This is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.

Parking and other tips

For those with mobility challenges, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover, Pressed Cafe, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom.

Before arriving, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen, hydration, etc.).

If you would like to receive updates on Justice4All Thursdays and reminders of our events, please add your email below to join our list. We’re excited to reinforce the work of our friends at Bearing Witness and to support our immigrant neighbors. We hope that you will join us.

See you in Burlington!
