We are Patriots Standing Up for Democracy! We will be at the Barre Common on Rt. 122 every Sunday from noon to 1:30pm. Please bring your signs or banners and join us! All are welcome! We have copies of the U.S. Constitution and pins available.
We will happily take a donation for the Barre Food Pantry. Now more than ever we need to help those in need.
We stand at the Town Common on Route 122 which passes right through where we stand. We are directly across from the Town Band Stand. This spot is at the corner of Barre Road and School St. where Route 62 ends.

Danielle Allen, convening chair of the Coalition for Healthy Democracy and author of Justice by Means of Democracy, presents her ideas on policy innovations needed for a healthy democracy. We’re called to envision what we want our democracy to look like, how we want it to function, and who we want it to support—what Danielle calls “renovating” democracy.
Danielle Allen is a seasoned leader, public policy and public affairs professor, author, democracy advocate, and mom. Whether in her research lab or as a civic leader, Danielle works on democracy renovation: a new way of thinking about and investing to strengthen our country. Democracy renovation reconnects people to civic life and redesigns our political institutions and civic infrastructure so people have the tools they need to be responsible and effective citizens— and politicians have the incentives they need to deliver responsive and accountable representation.
Danielle is a founder of multiple civic organizations including the Civics and History Inquiry Partnership, Educating for American Democracy, and Partners In Democracy. She is the author of Our Declaration and Justice by Means of Democracy, as well as the forthcoming Radical Duke: how one aristocrat-and the American Revolution—transformed Britain. A former columnist for the Washington Post, she now writes for The Renovator. Danielle is also the convening chair for the Coalition for Healthy Democracy, a ballot committee seeking to put ballot initiatives for an all-party primary and public records transparency on the November 2026 ballot in Massachusetts.

More and more we see them at rallies, in groups walking the streets of Salem and the North Shore: umbrellas with words, and/or decorations, promoting the cause.
Join us at our Umbrella Making Workshop! Bring an umbrella to decorate, or use one of ours – we have a limited supply. Art supplies will be provided, or bring your own, and even a friend.
This is a no cost workshop. Donations taken if offered, but are certainly not mandatory.

During our rally we will be hosting a Food Drive that supports our friends and families in the Salem community, who are missing their monthly SNAP benefits, as well as the homeless community.

Come join us for a cup of hot coffee or tea at one of Salems oldest and dearest establishments – Reds! Reds is known for its good hot coffee, generous portions, and friendly help.
There we can catch up, plan, strategize -or just hangout and have some coffee. Or tea. Or hot chocolate. You get the idea.

We gather on an overpass with flags and waving and shouting to say NO WAR ON OUR CITIES to those on the highway beneath!
We will post this message in two-foot-high letters visible to all. Come join our well-oiled machine and learn how.
Dress for the weather! Nearby side streets have good parking. We will meet at the top of Carrlyn Rd for instructions and distribution of equipment. If you have one, bring a big American flag to wave!
You may also bring a sign to show to folks passing on the main road. Other possible messages include NO to Corruption, NO taking health care from working families, NO cuts to VA care, NO turning troops on our own people.

Peaceful protests are happening every week at the ICE Detainment Center in Burlington MA through a program called “Bearing Witness.” The Democratic Committees of the Sixth District are planning to mobilize a large group to attend the protest happening on Wednesday, November 19th from 11 AM – 1 PM. We want to show our support for those being detailed at the center as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches. Please sign up to join us so we can help to arrange for carpools from greater Newburyport. Every protester makes a statement – and makes a difference!
We are moving to the intersection of Park Avenue and Highland Street, at Elm Park. Parking is available in the Price Chopper parking lot. It would be great to have a few more participants so we can cover all 4 corners to remind people who is behind the Shutdown of our House of Representatives. We have the signs. We need people to hold them.
The timing of our standout has been reduced to an hour and moved 15 minutes earlier to accommodate the time change. Dress warm and wear gloves. I know we are getting to MAGA supporters. One woman yelled “You people have no life. You’re wasting your time showing up here every week!” That tells me we are noticed, and getting under their skin. That, and the honks and waves from the passers by, warms my heart and keeps me coming back! Hope to see you there!
