Speedy signature training for the ballot initiative to end loyalty pay in the state house. Join Act on Mass Board Member Hewon Hwang and I for a quick review of what the stipend reform ballot question is and how you can help Act on Mass & allies get it on the ballot!
We’ll cover the background behind the effort to end these so-called “leadership stipends”– a system that rewards loyalty and punishes dissent, consolidating power and control of legislation in the hands of state house leadership. Then we’ll discuss the ins and outs of signature collecting and make sure you have the tools you need to collect signatures in your own life.
Join us to defeat Maine’s voter suppression referendum on the ballot this November. We will call primarily Democratic voters to make sure we turn out every supporter. This ballot question, underwritten by national Republicans, would limit drop boxes, mail-in and absentee voting, and require identification, which does not include student or tribal IDs. It’s likely to be a low turnout election, so our work will be especially impactful. Let’s work with the Maine Democrats to make sure we have accessible, free and fair elections in Maine.

The committee has had great success in the past and would appreciate your assistance in spreading the news about the initiative. Volunteers interested in helping the committee will be given a list of neighbors that frequently vote for Democrats and a stack of invitations. The committee is asking volunteers to reach out to their neighbors however they feel most comfortable.
Want to help keep our actions safe, organized, and powerful? Join us for an official Marshal Training hosted by Worcester Indivisible.
Whether you’re brand new to nonviolent direct action or just want to brush up on your skills, this session will cover both NVDA essentials and marshal techniques — open to anyone ready to learn and support actions in any role.
We’ll cover: What is NVDA [Non-Violent Direct Action] What a marshal is and why they matter How to cork intersections and control flow Leapfrogging techniques to support mobile protests/marches De-escalation tips and safety awareness Signal App 101 for secure group communication How to support accessibility and inclusion on the ground
And most importantly — how to keep each other safe while standing up for justice
This training will be interactive, and discussion based. You’ll leave with real tactics, scripts, and tools you can use right away. We’ll also go over what to do in case of police presence, counter-protesters, or emergencies.
No prior experience is required — just bring your curiosity, your questions, and your commitment to keeping our community strong. You are also not required to Marshal at any time by attending this event, we encourage anyone and everyone to attend it simply to grow their skills and feel more comfortable during actions.
This is a great entry point if you’ve ever thought: “I want to help, but I don’t know where to start.”
