From Cows to Covid and Beyond: A Brief History of Vaccine Technology

October 25, 2025 @ 4:00 pm 6:00 pm EDT

At a time when American healthcare and medical research is in peril, let’s hear about the great advances science has made and can offer all of us!

Sean Ryder, Ph.D. is a Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biotechnology at UMass Chan Medical School. He is also the author of Everyday RNA: The Future of RNA Medicines, a textbook written to a lay audience that answers the questions “What is RNA?”, “What does it do in our cells?”, and “How is it being used to make medicines, including vaccines?”. His presentation will focus on the history of vaccine technology, beginning with the discovery that Cow Pox inoculation protects against Small Pox infection and concluding with the development of mRNA vaccines. The presentation is tailored so that anyone should be able to follow and understand without the need for an advanced science degree.

One Million Rising meeting – Fitchburg

October 8, 2025 @ 6:30 pm 8:00 pm EDT

Across the country, authoritarian forces are getting bolder and more dangerous. Trump and his allies are not hiding their agenda: mass deportations, rollbacks of civil rights, weaponized courts, and full-scale attacks on our democracy. We don’t have to wait until it’s too late. We can stop this. But it’ll take all of us—not just on single days of mass action, but through sustained organizing in our communities.

That’s why this summer, Indivisible launched One Million Rising—a national effort to train one million people in the strategic logic and practice of non-cooperation, as well as the basics of community organizing and campaign design. This is how we build people power that can’t be ignored. You’re invited to join us—and lead.

Let’s build a force bigger than fear and louder than hate. Let’s get ready. Let’s get organized. Let’s stop Trump.

This a local Indivisible event!

Please join us at the First Parish Church in Fitchburg at 923 Main Street. Parking is available along the Common, in the post office parking lot, and in the Workers’ Credit Union parking lot. If you need to park closer, please let one of the organizers know. It’s important to us that you be there if you want to be. We will make it work! Enter the church on the LEFT side of the building. There will be a sign on the door.

Please, bring a friend or two! One Million Rising is all about bringing more people into the fold. Bring a friend who might just want to hear what we’re all about and what we’re doing about it.

Please arrive by 6:45pm – the meeting will begin PROMPTLY at 7pm.

The core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
