We’ll supply signs and handouts about ICE activity in Massachusetts and practical ways people can take action. Please sign up for a one-hour shift between 1:30–5:30 PM (spots are limited). Bring a water bottle for the heat and a smile to greet our international guests. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBy registering for this event\, I commit to participating in a legal and peaceful manner\, following the guidance of event organizers\, and treating fellow participants\, bystanders\, and law enforcement with respect. SUMMARY:Vigil for TPS Families
DESCRIPTION:The Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program is under attack under the Trump Administration. Currently over one million immigrants from 17 countries are at risk of losing their TPS protection regardless of if it is safe to return to countries experiencing war and other disasters. Right now the Trump Administration has announced the termination of TPS for approximately 600\,000 Venezuelans and 500\,000 Haitians\, 9\,360 Afghans\, 3\,485 Cameroon\, 7\,505 Nepalese\, 2\,935 Nicaraguans\, 52\,585 Hondurans\, but we know that is just the beginning of his attempts to remove people living in the United States legally. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTPS was created in 1990 by Congress to provide a clear process for America to live out its founding ideals by providing humanitarian assistance to people fleeing war and natural disasters. The people who receive TPS protections have become integral to local communities\, we are your co-workers and neighbors\, we shop at local businesses and we pay taxes that help improve the lives of everyone. Many of us have had children while living here who are US citizens that go to school with your children or are taught by you in your classrooms. Removal of TPS protections will have widespread impacts on 1.5 million people across the United States with TPS status\, not to mention the millions of US citizen school aged children of TPS holders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n On July 29\, attorneys representing the Alliance will present an emergency motion before a new judge\, who has taken over this case\, to protect families with TPS from these countries. It is critical for our communities to be visible and united at this moment. \n\n\n\n Then\, on August 1\, the attorneys will present a motion before Judge Edward Chen\, urging him to make a final decision in the case defending TPS protections for Venezuela and Haiti. \n\n\n\nThis is urgent: the Supreme Court removed emergency protections\, and now Venezuelan families are already being deported to their country of origin. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n We must stand together and show up to defend our communities and demand permanent protection for all TPS families. \n\n\n\nThe Comite TPS Massachusetts is one of the leading TPS Committees in the National TPS Alliance. We are reaching out today with urgency. \n\n\n\nOn Tuesday\, July 29th\,2025 at 5:00 PM\, we will be holding a Vigil in front of the Federal Building in Boston to raise awareness and show solidarity with families at risk of losing their TPS protections. \n\n\n\nMeet at City Hall Plaza in front of the John F. Kennedy Federal Building.

DESCRIPTION:The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is marking its 35th anniversary on Wednesday\, July 23! Passage of this law took years of hard-fought advocacy by people with disabilities across the country. It is now hard to imagine not having this law\, which established protections for people with disabilities from discrimination in employment\, places of public accommodation\, transportation\, and other areas of life. \n\n\n\nJoin us for the ADA35 Boston March and Rally on Wednesday\, July 23. The Arc of Massachusetts is a proud partner of this event. Especially at this moment\, we must continue that legacy and grow our collective advocacy to support the ADA and other pieces of legislation at the local\, state\, and federal level. \n\n\n\nRegister in advance with The Arc to receive a limited-edition rally bandana (while supplies last) to proudly wear at the event and beyond! \n\n\n\nEvent details: \n\n\n\n\nThe event begins at noon on Wednesday\, July 23 at Boston City Hall Plaza. The Arc team will gather starting at 11:30AM. Look for our orange signs and meet us then to get your bandana (while supplies last!).\n\n\n\nThe flag raising takes place at noon at City Hall Plaza.
