We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \n\n\n\nSigns \n\n\n\nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \n\n\n\nParking and other tips \n\n\n\nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. DESCRIPTION:Carlos Zapata Rivera\, the man who was violently arrested in Fitchburg with his baby in the car Nov 6\, has a check-in appointment at the ICE office at 10AM tomorrow. With the help of the ACLU\, he is suing ICE. The ACLU has reached out and asked if we could be there early. We will be there and set up at 9:30AM. He will go in for his appointment. We will likely carry on with our program (time uncertain) – but break immediately if we hear resolution. Of course\, we have no idea when that may happen\, so we will have to play it by ear. DESCRIPTION:Last month\, we held a standout/prayer vigil at the Burlington ICE Detention center for community member Blanca. Over 300 people attended\, and she was released home! However\, her next appointment is Tuesday\, Sept. 16. ECCO\, LUCE and other partners are once again organizing a standout.   \n\n\n\nTuesday\, Sept. 16 at 7AM outside the Burlington ICE Detention center\, 1000 District Ave.\, Burlington\, MA: standout for Blanca\, who had an ICE appointment last month and was released home as about 300 people joined her in solidarity at her appointment. We need a high turnout to show ICE that she has even more than that amount of support and visibility – and to keep her here!
