If you’re unable to attend the hearings in person\, you can watch them online using the hearing links above. \n\n\n\n\nLivestream hearings here\n\n\n\n\nNext Tuesday\, November 25\, two state legislative committees have scheduled separate hearings for key bills to protect immigrants. We know many of you may be away or busy with holiday preparations\, but please take a few minutes to email or call your state legislators about these important bills that IMC members recently endorsed. Get more information about actions to take\, including suggested call scripts\, in the Teams section below.Earlier this month\, the Public Safety Committee scheduled a hearing for several immigration bills\, including the Safe Communities Act\, starting at 11:30 AM in Gardner Auditorium\, the largest hearing room at the State House. \n\n\n\nLate last week\, the Judiciary Committee announced that it will be holding a hearing the same day in Room A-2 in the State House starting at 10 AM on a large number of bills\, including two other immigration bills that IMC members endorsed: the Dignity Not Deportations Act and the Immigrant Legal Defense Act.

DESCRIPTION:Make sure our neighbors don’t go hungry! \n\n\n\nPlease join Make Hunger History\, the Merrimack Valley Food Bank\, and anti-hunger advocates from across the state on Tuesday\, October 28\, from 12:00–12:45 p.m.\, on the steps of the State House (Beacon Street\, Boston). \n\n\n\nWe’ll rally and hold a press event in response to the ongoing federal shutdown and its devastating impacts on SNAP and other federal nutrition programs. Please arrive at noon; the speaking program begins at 12:15. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nIf the situation remains unchanged\, SNAP recipients will not receive their November benefits on time. This would be the first time in history that the federal government failed to issue SNAP benefits during a shutdown. The federal government must act immediately to ensure that these benefits aren’t interrupted\, and if it fails to do so\, the State must step in to fill the gap so Massachusetts residents can afford to feed their families. \n\n\n\nSNAP helps 1 in 6 Massachusetts residents put food on the table\, while providing 9 meals for every meal provided by a food bank. Every month\, SNAP households spend about $210 million in benefits—$1 of every $5 spent at local grocery stores and farmers’ markets.

DESCRIPTION:We will be protesting at the state house against the governments abuses of our constitutional rights\, civil liberties\, and human rights. The authoritarian and oppressive nature of the government will be discussed. We will be standing up for the constitutional rights of all people but there will be a special emphasis on upholding the constitutional rights of sick\, disabled\, and vulnerable people. When one person’s rights are violated it effects all of us. We will not ignore the injustices committed against people who have health conditions and we will speak out against all abusive government actions. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP for updates\n\n\n\n\nA core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
