Cookie Day is an annual advocacy event where low-income tenants, families, providers, elected officials, and community members unite to expand and deepen the impact of the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program. The event earned its name from the tradition, started by Homes for Families, of families and advocates handing out house-shaped cookies to elected officials as a reminder to support MRVP.
9:30AM – Doors open in the Hall of Flags and attendees will have a chance to sign in and grab some breakfast.
10:00AM – Advocates, community members, and legislators will meet at the Hall of Flags to hear personal stories of using MRVP and from leading legislators in affordable housing.
12:00PM – Following the speaking portion, people will head out to legislative meetings and to hand out cookies. Be sure to schedule a meeting with your elected officials and reach out to Kathryn Smith at kathryns@saveourhomes.org if you need help scheduling.

Michelle Cantara will share her experiences with the LUCE initiative that monitors proceedings at the Chelmsford immigration court, and explain how we can help.
Jim Nehring will share his experience and answer your questions about IINE and the Neighbor-to-Neighbor (N2N) initiative. N2N is focused on helping our immigrant population and mutual aid.
We will have information on LUCE Immigrant Justice Network and walk through filling out their intake form to join LUCE. (bring your phone or tablet)
We will discuss ways encourage the MA Legislature to strengthen protections of our immigrant neighbors by passing the Safe Communities Act in a timely manner.
Make Your State House Fight For You: A Climate and Transparency Webinar

How do we know if our legislators are climate champions or villains? What does Act On Mass’s ongoing fight for State House transparency have to do with our climate movement for a just, sustainable world?
Join Act On Mass, Sierra Club MA, and 350 Mass for a webinar and community conversation on Thursday, 2/5 from 5:30-6:30. We’ll discuss our recent transparency wins, how they helped in the fight against the Climate Rollback Bill and to Make Polluters Pay, and where we need to go from here. No prior legislative knowledge necessary!
Come join us Monday and Tuesday 11-1 to protest ICE cruelties.
Where: Burlington, MA: From 11–12 we hold signs on a busy street to communicate our message publicly, and from 12–1 we gather outside the ICE office for a more informal time of signs, speaking out, connection, and visible solidarity with immigrants while making our presence known to ICE. What to bring: A sign! Meeting point: Corner of Burlington Mall Road and District Ave, closest to Pressed Cafe. After: Optionally join us for lunch at Pressed Cafe.
Immigrants who are fortunate to leave the facility have shown gratitude for our presence and some share their stories with us.
ICE agents tend to cover their faces with masks, many record us with their phones, others give a satisfied smile or laugh, they rarely say anything.
The security officers stationed at the front of the building have not hassled us.
Passersby from nearby businesses often thank us for being there, and many have shared that they never knew this was an ICE facility.
Parking for District Ave Protests
There is parking at busineses and on the street, but there are risks. See information about where parking is officially allowed and the risk of being towed in the District Ave Area on the What to Expect page of the Bearing Witness page. Note that no one has been towed since Jared and Laurie started protesting in April 2025. In order to be legally towned, Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 266, Section 120D specifies that in order for towing to occur you need to be warned by a sign or a person that parking is restricted. In addition, the owner of the property must get permission from the chief of police or designee and provide certain information.

We will be writing postcards to voters in other states to lay the groundwork for winning the 2026 Midterms. Campaigns will vary from voter registration to messaging to election information. Join us for great conversation while we write. Postcards are a great way to connect with voters!

Just like Bearing Witness in Burlington, we will have a shovel brigade to clear out some of the area where we usually stand. Bring a shovel.
We will need to clear some space to stand, so bring your shovels!
Although there have been a few sunny, relatively warm days, there is still little available parking – and our site remains under snow.Only 3 or 4 cars can park on Hanscom Dr. There is no available parking on Old Bedford Rd.We’ll create a shuttle system from Concord Center – Meet at the parking lot by the Concord visitor center (map below) at 1:00. We currently have 4 drivers. People who can provide rides for others can make a few trips and then park on Hanscom Drive.Or have someone drop you off at the rotary and pick you up at 3:00Bring your shovels and we will clear space for us to stand. De-ICE Hanscom is a coalition organizing peaceful standouts with the goal of eliminating ICE transport flights from Hanscom Field. ICE is using these flights to swiftly move immigrants out of New England in order to hinder effective legal representation.
Coalition groups include Boston Workers Circle, Concord Indivisible, Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN), Indivisible Acton Area, Jewish Alliance for Law & Social Action (JALSA), Lexington Alarm, and Maynard Indivisible.
