Brookline: Rally for Democracy

October 11, 2025 @ 11:00 am 2:00 pm EDT

There are many paths of resistance, but one of the easiest is to join with Brookline PAX for our Stand Up for the Constitution, 11am-2=pm every Saturday in Coolidge Corner. It’s fun, simple and re-affirming when you see and hear how many support this cause. Bring a sign and bring a friend. We hope to see you there!

And, same day, same place, you can join the Senior Stand Out at 2:00 p.m. A real double-header to show the malefactors and miscreants where Brookline stands–figuratively and literally.

This a local Indivisible event! A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*

Indivisible First Middlesex Action Hour

October 4, 2025 @ 10:30 am 12:00 pm EDT

The agenda will include guest speaker Lucy Lee from the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network of Massachusetts.
Ms. Lee will speak about the ICE Watch and Hotline and how we can get involved to support our immigrant neighbors. LUCE is a coalition of immigrant-led, grassroots organizations rooted in justice and equity who build people power for everyone across Massachusetts to keep all our communities safe.
We will also provide updates on anti-ICE efforts such as a town hall request we made to US Rep. Lori Trahan, a letter to Chevin Fleet Solutions co-signed with Fitchburg Indivisible, and the national campaign to Ground Avelo.
After the presentation, we will have a postcarding and phone calling bonanza! Post card and phone call scripts will be provided for national and local candidates and legislation. All supplies and scripts will be provided. Bring your enthusiasm, colored pencils or markers if you have them, and your desire to create change!

Safety, Resilience, and De-Escalation Training

October 14, 2025 @ 5:00 pm 6:30 pm EDT

We keep us safe, together. As we side with love, take to the streets and show up for democracy- there will be moments of friction, big feelings, and unrest. This training will support creating a culture of resilience and safety in the political climate, explore and practice de-escalating common scenarios, and ground into community. All are welcome, from the experienced to curious.

Your trainer is Claire Karl Müller (they/them/theirs). They are the Movement Building Director at UU Mass Action. They began doing protest safety during the 2020 uprisings and never stopped. They now regularly lead marshal for Indigenous, Trans, Palestine, Housing and other social justice actions in Greater Boston. They enjoy training others to take on the role of marshal and de-escalator for our collective safety.

Action Hour-IndivisibleLAB

October 7, 2025 @ 10:30 am 11:30 am EDT

Please join us for our Daytime Action Hour to hear from our special guest, Scotia Hille, who is the executive director of Act On Mass.

Act on Mass is a nonprofit organization focused on transparency and accountability in the state legislature in Massachusetts. They are currently working on a few initiatives that would target the tremendous concentration of power in legislative leadership in MA, which disempowers rank-and-file representatives, stifles dissent, and stalls progress.

Executive Director Scotia Hille will be joining us to talk about one of these, a potential ballot question for 2026 to reform MA’s anomalous system of “loyalty pay,” which allows leaders to use member salaries as a form of control. The question is currently in the signature-gathering phase and actively seeking volunteers.

Activism that Works!

October 20, 2025 @ 6:00 pm 7:30 pm EDT

Do you wonder what resistance actions are the most effective in standing up to the Trump Administration?

This interactive 90 minute workshop will present theory and case studies that will help us explore the most effective actions and tactics that can be used to create social change – including addressing the current threat to democracy in the US.

Specifically, we will focus on 1) identifying and putting pressure on primary and secondary targets, 2) learning about the importance of communicating with unlikely allies and mobilizing passive supporters, and 3) using creative tactics that draw on cultural resonances of the target audience(s).

Interspersed with learning and studying campaign case studies will be small group discussions and exercises designed to help participants apply concepts to goals and projects they care most about.

The workshop leaders have been social justice activists for many decades, in movements including anti-nuclear, anti-intervention, housing rights, youth empowerment, voting rights, climate change, and classism awareness and action; and they have studied the research on social movement outcomes.

About the Speakers: Betsy Leondar-Wright, PhD, is a long-time economic justice activist whose graduate studies focused on what makes social movements succeed. She is the author of several books, most recently Is It Racist? Is It Sexist?

Anne Wright is a long-time social justice activist. Over the last 40 years she has focused on the anti-intervention and environmental justice movements, and on voter registration and education for low-income youth. The sisters are both co-editors of the Don’t Mourn Organize Eastern Mass substack, an e-newsletter that recommends action alerts for progressives in the greater Boston area.

A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
