We will begin with three brief updates on opportunities to strengthen election transparency and verification:

–  Susan Greenhalgh of Free Speech For People will introduce FSFP’s campaign to ensure that vote totals uploaded into election results systems are checked against the totals printed on voting machines’ poll tapes. She will discuss how you can encourage your state and local officials to adopt this important verification step. [Read about the initiative here.]

–  Aileen Nakamura of Scrutineers will update us on their initiative for collecting and reporting poll tapes and explain how you can participate.

– Marilyn Marks will cover a bit about the predictable escalating problems in Georgia, where the State Election Board has recklessly asked the DOJ to intervene in the election. The ballot secrecy concerns we discussed in March (!) remain unresolved even in the face of our discovery in July that AI chatbots can trace most ballot records back to the individual voter. Officials are refusing to provide Georgia voters with an ability to cast a non-traceable ballot.

The bulk of our time will be devoted to your questions. What concerns are you seeing in your local jurisdiction? Where are you running into obstacles? What would help you decide which last-minute actions could make the greatest difference? Bring your questions about election observation, transparency, ballot protections, results verification, and other concerns arising in your community.

❓👉  Please submit questions HERE. Your questions will help us prepare a discussion that is useful to the work you are doing.

There is still meaningful work we can do together in these final weeks and through the vote counting and verification of results. Thank you for showing up, staying engaged, and helping build the local oversight that trustworthy elections require. We look forward to hearing from you and supporting your efforts.
